we leave all the decision making up to him, we are there for him we NO ONEELSE is, including his family. We include him in everything that is happening in our lives, we tell him and ask his advice on things and we have all told him that we love him and don't want him to go and we think he is making a big mistake. My 9 year old has never known anyone else as his dad, but this guy and it really hurts him that he is leaving. He thinks this guy is leaving because of him (my son). He thinks he is the problem. We all are blameing ourselves for him leaving. I just don't understand and neither does anyone else.

It's not so much that you show this person that you love him, but that this person know's in his heart that you do. People make mistakes and sometimes it takes more than once for a person to learn from them.
If it's something that you can live with (the mistake he's making) and stand by him no matter how bad a mistake you think he's making will show him your love for him. If you haven't told him you think he might be making a mistake, maybe you can give him better advice about it this time around. And be there when or if he falls.

You cannot live someone Else's life for them, they have to find out things for them selves be it good or bad. We all make mistakes but there our mistakes no one Else's.
