Nice article there about a nice 19 year old boy from Arkansas who was "told by God to travel to Galvaston, Texas to find work as a minister." He is now in jail for PUTTING HIS 2 MONTH OLD CHILD IN A MICROWAVE because he couldnt take the demands of caring for her (but he is going to care for an entire congregation, right??)
Why does God call on these kinds of people to lead ministries?? Or, was this young man actually completely faithful and sane and was simply following another "test" like God tested Abraham, asking him to kill his own son???

I would also like someone to *prove* to me that god did not call this person into his ministry. And none of this "It can't be what god wanted so therefore he wasn't called" rubbish either.
There is no proof of insanity here, no proof that god wasn't calling him. Above all, there is no way anyone (christian or otherwise) can legitimately claim to have intimate knowledge of another person's walk with god.
I choose to exercise as much faith as any christian and BELIEVE that this boy was doing god's will.

Why is it that when something bad like this happens its God fault right away? The guy is 19 he is way past the age to know right from wrong. Many people says God has called then to minister somewhere, I am not believing God told him anything, maybe the guy is on drugs or some meds that make him hear what he claims to be God's voice..There are many people come to think about who has claimed they have heard God's voice tell them to go kill this or that or whoever, and they do it, later they find out this person has mental problems or forgot to take the med he or she is on..So before anyone puts the blame on God they should find out the real cause of why they did what they did..The guy sounds like he needs alot of mental help and sure hope he gets it...

This guy thought he was hearing God talking to him.
He was clearly insane.
You know this can happen. Not always when you think you hear God you are really hearing God. Besides God will not work through someone that he does not think can handle it.
Hey this is more of a matter with the war that is going on instead of God. I just looked at the guys myspace page and he was discharged from the army. Maybe this guy went crazy from everything that is going on. check his myspace...Joshua Mauldin
By reading his webpage this guy clearly went through alot in his life and he just lost it.

My guess is that he was a screwed up guy that 'found religion' and listened to the voices in his head and mistook them for God's voice. Then the voices told him to do this barbaric act of murder. You've never heard of wife-beating, adulterous, incestuous ministers before? Remember how Paul was a murderer before he met Jesus? Same deal. Just being a minister doesn't make you sane or good with people. You've just got to know how to read off prewritten speeches and say all the right words all the time.

That's not God telling him to microwave his son. What a creepy story. That person is just crazy and probably is hearing some voice made up in his head. It's really sad how people believe people who claim God tells them to do disturbing stuff like this believe it...

Maybe God did not call on him, people do lie you know, but even if God did call on him, everybody sins. God used the lowest, most sinful people in the Bible; tax collectors, the lame, despised dirty sinners. He did these because he was bringing up the low and sinful and using them to shame the wise and intelligent so that none could boast that they did it on their own. So God does use the worst of the worst and the lowest of the sinners, but I am not saying God did call that guy, that is between him and God, what he did was wrong.

Obviously since you are already so biased against Christians
a logical explanation would never enter your mind.
The boy obviously was not called by God and was probably either demon possessed or insane.
God never made a mistake yet! Only humans do that. Some will admit to it, others won't and still others will treat lopsided editorials as if they were truth (like the massive pile of mistakes made by the media).
You fit category 3.

Yes, very sad.
It doesn't begin to compare with the tens of millions of people killed by such outstanding atheists as Adolph Hitler, Joe Stalin, Chairman Mao, Pol Pot, Napoleon, to nane a few.
All of them good atheists, doing what ahteists do best.

No, people like Bernadette of Lourdes, Francis of Assisi, And Padre Pio, hear God's voice. Not a man who has too much to drink or smoke.
He is from Arkansas, I believe that gives it away.
