What a waste of paper! I've called the companies to complain, to no avail. What can I do?

I do recycle them. But they're not usually printed on recycled paper, so trees are still being chopped down to make them! I want them to stop producing and sending this stuff that no one ever reads anyway.

Go to www.optout.com. Fill out the form and you will see your junk mail start to dwindle and after 30 days you will have almost none. I did this 6 months ago and unfortunately, everytime I log on somewhere or use my credit card or write a check my information is sold to companies so I need to do it again. But it really did work for about 6 months.

If you have already tried contacting companies about sending you junk mail and they cannot take you off their list of recipients than I would suggest that you save all the paper junk mail you get and bring it to a recycling center. This would be more helpful than just throwing it away.

Concept, save all the junk mail from different companies, example home depot, get all your friends to do the same. When the pile is large enough, paper mache a tree, as big as you can and park it outside their door step, telling them where to go with their flyers. Give it back to them in a very awkward and noticeable, yet legal way.

Usually there is a number in the small print on the back of the paper and then you call that number and unsubscribe much like email and I have heard that if they contact you again then you can sue them for harassment

To avoid the problem altogether, just don't give away your phone number or address to unwanted or unneeded advertisers. However, if it's paper you are already recieveing, call to request a halt in shipment. OR a more effective method if the previous does not work: send it directly back to the sender, and then they will stop sending it to you.

Well when you get the junk mail, you can recycle it so it is a benefit to the environment. Junk mail is annoying... but you can do something good for the environment with it.

Well if you cannot get them to stop, why not just recycle the junk mail.

Don't fill out online forms just to get some cheap freebie like a totebag. Because that company will sell your address to 100 junkmail senders.

I have the same problem!
Don't send them back because all they do is throw them away.
I just recycle them, and honestly, I think that's the best thing you can do.

Return to sender, one thing I do is when I open my phone bill and it has advertising in it, I stick in the envelope and mail it back to phone company and amazingly they stopped putting the advertising in with the bill.
