I have hypothyroid and have been on medication for just about 7 weeks. I am wondering if anyone knows of any reasons for elevated TSH levels other than hypothyroid. Just curious, you know, you get diagnosed and more and more questions start popping up. Thanks!

Sometimes other hormone imbalances can effect the thyroid. If you are experiencing thyroid symptoms you may have a subtle imbalance that inhibits your thyroid hormones from being converted or utilized well by the peripheral systems in your body. Your doctor may also want to evaluate other important functions, such as your adrenals, your hormone levels and your GI tract, to rule out any problems there.

I was diagnosed with the same thing years ago. As far as I know, that's it. Looks like we're both going to be taking Synthroid for the rest of our lives. :(

((I am, however, going to watch your question and see if anyone else knows something it may be.))
