You could try a range of orange hues. Or perhaps blues to match the water. Basic black always looks good, too. Flowers should complement the dress shade, but doesn't need to match exactly. They could wear blue dresses and wear coral colored flowers, or vice versa. If you choose the dress color, most florists will be able to help you find a complementing color and style for the bouquets.

Congratulations on your wedding! I think any flowers would look great at a sunset wedding. The sunset will bring out every floral color. So maybe you can choose a first color by your favorite color. For me though, I am planning my wedding as well and my wedding colors are going to be the hot pink and purples with some ivory and some of the bright green foliage. Those colors would also look beautiful at a sunset wedding. Because sometimes when the sun starts setting it brings out some oranges and yellows but it also brings out some purples as well. Hope this helps. Good Luck! Since I am planning my wedding as well, I have a lot of pictures that I have saved on my comp. If you like I can email them to you. You can also check out theknot.com. They have a lot of picture galleries to look at.

I just got married in October and before we decided on that month we were looking into a September Beach wedding. Our colors were going to be dark teal highlighted with light teal.

A lilac with a royal blue looks real exquisite and to use a silver to bring out the colors will look real amazing. You can find so many beautiful flowers in all shades of blues and purples that will accent everything. You will look amazing and so will the flowers and the bridesmaids. Good luck on your life journey.

I think your bridesmaids would look good in a blue and purple combination, and have pink and red flowers on one side, and orange and yellow flowers on the other, to match the "sunset" feeling.

I think that the following are great color combinations:
crisp blue and white
hot pink and tan (or gold)
ocean blue and sand color
chocolate and lavender (or medium purple)
You would want to have the bm's in the bright colors and the men could wear the coordinating color suit with the bm's color as their accent color.

When the sun sets, the sky turns all kinds of colors. I personally like the pinks, purples, blues, and oranges. So, maybe choose from them....
