I am nearsighted. My Rx for contact lenses is -4.25 in both eyes. I am assuming that is a fairly strong prescription.

It's enough... as you already know!
by -1.00 people should not be driving without glasses.
by -2.50 most will not want to walk down the street without them.
"severe" short-sight starts at -6.00 for some obscure official and legal purposes.

I get up to -13.50 in my worst eye, which makes yours not quite that impressive.
I've made glasses for -22.00 and contact lenses for -28.00, which makes mine look less impressive.

Remember to get high index lenses. If not you will be a walking coke bottle.

It's fairly strong but not the strongest I've seen. Please make sure you have a spare set of glasses in case of emergency (like if one pair breaks). You are blessed you can see even if with the help of glasses. I've seen many that can't be corrected (blind) even with glasses.

Your eyesight is pretty bad . . . you posted this on a dating site for carpenters, not Yahoo Answers!

Kidding . . . I have no idea.

well scripts available in contacts range in diopters from -0.25 to - 13.00 so if your -4.00 it aint as bad as some other px's we've seen
