I can only answer by what God says thru the bible. take it for what it is worth...
Romans 1:26-29
That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip
----------
it is a sin by what I understand from scripture.

This is not in the popular opinion, but according to the bible homosexuality is a sin. However, it is no worse than any other sin in God's eyes. By the way folks, not all Christians who believe it is a sin are hateful about it. The Bible may teach that it's a sin, but it also teaches that we are to love the person and that God loves that person. Does that mean that a person can accept Christ and just turn their back on their homosexuality like it never existed? Probably not. We all have our own sins that we have to fight with on a daily basis: at least those of us who admit that we sin.

please actually read this....
homosexuality is listed as a sin BUT God has a problem with the acts and the lifestyle, not neccessarily what you feel. God says if you don't believe contrary to His word, don't condone sin, and don't practice sin, you are not guilty of it. so technically, if you are 'gay', having those feelings, but don't believe it's right, say it's fine or practice it, you have no problem there.
urges do not make someone a sinner. giving into sinful urges is what does.
God has a problem with homosexuality for many reasons, these are just some spelled out clearly in the Bible:
- it causes you to pick and choose what commandments to follow
- it causes you to see sin lighter
- it causes you to think the Bible is not the word of God if you don't agree with it
- people who practice homosexuality have a harder time understanding that God isn't discriminatory
- it promotes the pardoning of sexual sins, as they basically come with the same excuses
- it goes against God's plan for families and marriage
- it continually causes one not to use self control
please understand. God is not a homophobe and neither am I. a homophobe is one who is AFRAID or who hates homosexuals, not homosexuality, irrationally. hate by a Biblical standpoint is a lack of agape love; agape love is seeking the highest good for a person, even unto leading them to God, not dependant on personal preferences. so really, I wish that more would be saved and I don't try to hinder them, but the truth must be known in order to make you free.
I hope that didn't sound hateful, as that wasn't my intention.

Homosexuality is considered an abomination to God. why because homosexuality is basically showing God that you are rejecting His creation of man and women(if that makes sense).
You may not be verbally saying, "I reject the fact that man and woman were created to be together, but the rejection comes from within the heart and by your actions."
Homosexuality is a major sin which it is along the line of sorcery, withcraft, sexual immorality, pride and rebellion.
I believe it is a struggle within each and every person, it has nothing to do with being born that way or genetics, its a struggle of spiritual welfare and sin that causes the temptatoin of being involved in homosexuality or even thinking about it. I do not care what scientific research says or all that other junk. God create science and He uses it towards his advantage.
I am not judgemental towards homosexuals and I do not hate them, they are people too, but they do need to know that they are in the wrong. I am not the who it laid the fountain for it being a sin, GOD LAID THAT FOUNTAIN of the law and what is evil in His sight.

Nope and nope. The Bible does NOT condemn homosexuals and does NOT consider homosexual sex a sin.
The passages in Leviticus (18:22 and 20:13), understood IN THE CONTEXT of the time and place, are not an admonishment against loving sexual relationships between people of the same sex but instead against sex as a form of domination and control. Besides, these passages are part of the Holiness Code which is not binding to modern day Christians (or anyone else for that matter).
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah was a warning against rape, inhospitality and xenophobia. The reason for Sodom's destruction is made clear in Ezekiel 16:48-50. According to Ezekiel, the sins of Sodom were pride, laziness, being inhospitable, neglecting the needs of the poor, greed, and idolatry (the worshiping of idols). Nothing about homosexuality is mentioned. If Jude 1:7 describes anything about the sexual immorality and perversion in Sodom and Gomorrah, it's describing RAPE.
1 Corinthians 6:9 was a mistranslation of the word "malakee". It's used elsewhere in the Bible to mean someone who lacks discipline or one who is morally weak, and never is it used in reference to sexuality or gender.
1 Timothy 1:9-10? Also a mistranslation. 1 Timothy was an admonishment against male prostitution, not committed, loving same sex relationships.
The words "physin" and "paraphysin" in Romans 1:26-27 have also been mistranslated. Contrary to popular belief, the word "paraphysin" does not mean "to go against the laws of nature", but rather implies action which is uncharacteristic for that particular person. An example of the word "paraphysin" is used in Romans 11:24, where God acts in an uncharacteristic (paraphysin) way to accept the Gentiles. When the scripture is understood correctly, it implies that it would be unnatural for heterosexuals to live as homosexuals and for homosexuals to live as heterosexuals.

If you get a chance, read "The good news about sex and marriage," by Christopher West. I will keep you in my prayers. Homosexual acts are sinful. Here is what the Catechism states about homosexuality.
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

According to the Christian mythos, yes it is a sin.
But no, it is not wrong to be homosexual.
It is wrong to spout off hateful words (or perform hateful actions) against homosexuality.

I believe that homosexuality is a sin but you also have to realize that millions of other things are sins too. People who aren't homosexuals have no right to condemn those who are because everyone sins every day. Premarital sex is a sin, gossiping is a sin, judging others is a sin, lying is a sin...these are things that millions of hederosexuals do everyday and yet they have the nerve to condemn homosexuals. The Bible teaches that all sins are equal in Gods eyes, no one sin is greater than the other. If you are a homosexual you are no bigger of a sinner than everyone else. All you can do is pray for forgiveness from God...just like the rest of us. God bless.

Sexuality for pleasure sake is a sin (comperable to a drug addiction). Sex is for the conception of children. Serving God is to bring up children in a righteous manner. If 2 men adopt from an orphanage, or two women adopt from an orphanage, they also can accept the responsibility of bringing up children for God.
However, one should love all souls equally regardless of their covering or ignorance, for there is a soul beneath ever body and mind. The body/mind may die, but the soul will move on. Therefore it is also a sin to show hatred to another soul, or give preference to someone because of a negative or positive bias toward's their physical body.
When you can give up hatred or false love of mortal flesh, and treat all soul's equally regardless of circumstance, ignorance or sin, then you please God.

It's a sin to think lustful thoughts of anyone male or female. It's a sin, but no worse or better than any other sin. You need to repent for it just like everyone else has to repent. You also have to pray to ask God to help you abstain from sex and sexual thoughts. It's not impossible. Nothing is impossible through God.
