You should check with your airline about minors traveling alone - they all have policies. Some will have a flight attendant escort them, others will allow you to go through security with them. Many kids have to do this all of the time, so they have policies and procedures in place for it.

Make sure you can put him on a direct flight. If he has to change planes anywhere it increases his chances of getting stuck or lost somewhere.

Good luck!

its pretty safe for a 9 yr old boy to fly by himself. Usually a flight attendent will care for him.

We have had our two grand children flown from Orlando Florida to Little Rock Arkansas a couple of time and there wasn't a problem either time. Their flight required a plane change in Memphis Tennessee both times and attendants escorted them to where they needed to be. Of course it costs a little more for unescorted children. I'm sure we will be doing it again in the future.

I would never even consider sending a 9 year old child on a plane alone! There are too many nut cases in this world today. When I have a difficult time making a decision such as this I ask myself," if I had a diamond ring that I totally worshiped would I send it on (in this case a plane supervised by strangers) or would I keep it in the safety deposit box where all my treasures lie,and where I know it is free from harm. Its a matter of value.

I'm usually the first person to say don't put kids on airplanes... but a 9-year-old is capable of behaving for that flight. He'll be fine.

YES ITS SAFE. THE AIR LINES WILL ARRANGE FOR AN ADULT TO BE WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES. YOU REALLY NEED TO BE THERE TO PICK HIM UP ON TIME FOR THE ADULT IN CHARGE MOST LIKELY HAS A TURN AROUND FLIGHT TO CATCH.

VERY SAFE AND ENJOYABLE . THE AIRLINE WILL GIVE HIM A GREAT TIME. AFTER ALL HE IS THEIR POTENTIAL ADULT PASSENGER. JUST LET THE RESERVATION AGENT KNOW ABOUT HIM WHILE BOOKING HIS TRIP IT'S THEIR INVESTMENT. HAPPY MOMENTS NEVER FADE, THANK GOD.
