....did God create man directly (from dirt/ribs) or from ape-like ancestors?

And if you answer ape-like ancestors, is Adam and Eve then a metaphor?

Mainstream Christianity generally regards the stories in Genesis as mythological and metaphorical stories.

Only a handful of simplistic and highly conservative sects consider Genesis actual history.

I personally believe that God created Adam from dirt, and Eve from Adam's rib. I don't believe that evolution theory crap!! If we came from apes or whatever then wouldn't we still be evolving? yea i think so.

Hay please quit calling GOD A liar, He said in Gen.1 that IN THE BEGINING GOD created Heaven and earth and He said in Gen.2:7 HE FORMED mankind evolution is a lie because they say the first day was thousands or longer years long but in Gen.1 it says evening and morning were the first day, evening and morning were the second day, now i am not a rocket science person but thats 24 hours long right? Okay He God in Gen.2 rested on The Seventh Day which is from Sundown Friday until sundown Saturday the first day sunday has never been blessed or called sabbath and if you will email me at wgr88@yahoo.com and ask i will tell you why you go to church on sunday and God only can make a day holy and He did not make sunday holy so you CAN NOT keep it holy either, free bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org God bless

Well, obviously there are flaws in science and religion. I have some serious problems with the old testament, but...

I feel that the real message lies in the New Testament, and whatever the truth is, is for God to know and me, well, whatever. I'm not baptized because I dare to question and still believe. I guess that's why they call it faith.

why do we think it to be one literal day?
also do we look exactly like adam and eve?
have we not evolved into taller less hairy people?
im a christian and i have too many questions to discount a theory. much like we should not judge others for their sins, why should we discount their ideas. i dont see the conflict, instead i am searching for the connection between christianity and evolution. gods methods are beyond us much like everything that is associated with god. who said the bible is the book of knowledge? it does not contain the secrets of the universe it only contains the way to salvation.

There is so much dichotemy between Christianity and Evil-------ution that they could never be compatible.

Adam came from the soil and Eve came from Adams rib - close to Adam's heart to imply he is to love and protect her.

no apes, probably bacteria or a small rodent. of course god would design us to change and adapt to our environment that only makes sense. i believe adam and eve are representational of mankind or humans.
