Not sure if this is what you are thinking. But, I saw a great wedding photo once. It was taken on the beach and the bridal party was standing on top of a mountain of huge rocks and boulders (not in or near the water). It was located somewhere on the beach. They were all positioned on different rocks and equal distances apart. They all posed themselves like they were real models. The photo was amazing. It honestly looked like something out of a bridal mag. Stunning. I would go less with the posed "action" shoots and more with candid pictures and artsy poses. They are very classy and make for amazing photos.

If you have hired a photographer, they should ask you if you want any specific or special poses other than the traditional ones. Here is a link to one of my favorite photographers that I use in my wedding planning business. You can look thru their pictures and see some very comtemporary and candid poses. Then if you like a certain one or style recommend it to the photographer you have hired. Best wishes!!

I just got married last year. I wanted my photographer to take a more photo jornalistic approach to taking my pictures. They are more of the moment and spontanious. I was amazed at some of the photos the photographer got. You will however probably want to give the photographer a list of the people in the wedding and who the family members are. Good Luck!!!

It seems like everyone has given you something pretty solid to go on, but one thing I would like to throw out there for you is...
If you and your future husband are the silly types, do some fun pictures, get creative.
Example: The groomsmen dragging the groom into the church
One neat picture would be of you and your bridesmaids and mom holding up your dress as you slip into it (obviously with under garments on and not a lot of that showing anyways)

This is a very comprehensive list. Another suggestion is a Bride/Groom Silhouette. Bride and Groom standing in a doorway facing each other with light behind them and facing. I did this and it turns out very elegant. Just make sure there are no car bumpers showing.:)

What you mean is MUST TAKE PHOTOS...if you do a google search you will see some ideas. For example group photos of family-bridemaids-groomsmen....then they have different catorgies. If you go to The Knot they have alot of info there. But your photographer should have a general idea. I made sure to tell him to take pictures of the "little" stuff...our guest book..favors...center pieces etc etc...good luck! and congrats!
