New York City has five boroughs, all of which are controlled by the same city government, under the mayor. Each borough has its own borough president also. Manhattan is not the "main" borough, but most of the city government is located there. The boroughs are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island. There are also islands that are part of the city, like Roosevelt Island, which is considered part of New York County, which includes Manhattan.

best and most affordable would be have to upper east side no place beyong 86th street. you get the hussle and bussle of the city but some quiet time and u can know who lives in ur neighborhood by seeing the same regular people. other places are too populated and loud and it doesnt give u a quiet community feeling. settle in before u plan on going out a year from now, things might change between now and then. good luck!

Move here first, get your life together... and then worry about having fun.
That's my advice.
