No, I say like Jesus..

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"
(Luke 23.34)

I am looking for more intelligently prepared attacks. The only ones I see around here have missed the whole point.
Its like being angry for some vague reason, and missing the obvious. Like when someone is stealing from the cash register, but all the attendant notices is that the thief's socks are mismatched.
Same thing happens in politics all the time. People are distracted by the small stuff, and miss the real buggery.

As I mentioned before I have no problem with Christianity its a respected religion but I will attack those that relentlessly tell me same things over and over. If I didn't care to ask your belief then what is the point of people coming up to me handing me pamphlets and "teaching" me the word of god. It seems Christians just doesn't seems they are the ones that are doing majority of the bashing against atheism and other religions. All I ask is that you guys quit perusing me with your freaking belief. Go to abc.com and under 20/20 you can read for yourself how far Christians have gone with pushing their beliefs and in a public school no less a publicly funded school that all walks of life support religious or not.

I can honestly say the only place where I hear hatred for Christians is on this site. In my daily life I have not found that to be the case, so, no, I don't take it personal because the ones who speak against Christians are either atheists or trolls. I can' t get excited about either.

It really doesn't matter whether a person mean it personally or generally. One should never insult another person belief,we should agree to disagree, and leave each other with these words, you have your religion and I have mine, let the Creator decide where we differ. You see,the Creator is the originator of the religion,(or should I say the obedience to the Creator),and the laws that governs it,so no human can rightfully judge another human(except in man's court room).peace!!

I do get defensive when people talk against God, not necessarily Christianity. I wish people didn't believe that He's the cause of suffering, because He's not. There are many who profess to be Christians, but who are not truly practicing Christianity. They are the ones who give Christianity a bad name. Matthew 7:21-23.

I take it personally. I'm disgusted by the way my religion is portrayed as the cause of all human pain and suffering in the universe, when I myself have done nothing to deserve it. While there are some evil Christians, being Christian does not make someone evil, just like EVERY OTHER RELIGION ON THE PLANET.

I'm also pissed off by the way it's socially acceptable to bash Christianity, but saying the same hateful, intolerant things about any other religion is considered hate speech and will get you in a lot of trouble. Why is every other religion off limits, but bashing Christians is almost a national pastime now?

I never realized that Christians are so hated until I started answering questions on Yahoo! I watch the news and am up on current events. But, even on the TV news you don't see hate like I have seen here. In politics, people are upset with President Bush because of the war and his positions on other right wing issues. Christians tend to be Republican because of their moral beliefs. The Democrats are liberal and therefore, non-believers tend to side with them. Is this conributing to the disgust and hate toward Christians? I don't know, but the disagreements caused by the differing views on political matters don't seem to compare to the hateful rage I have seen here. I guess I need to pull my head out of the sand!! The Bible says that Christians will be hated in the end times. I don't hate those who hate me because of my beliefs. But, i don't and NEVER WILL push my beliefs on others. My relationship with God is a personal one. I have seen Deacons in the church become child molesters and Youth Pastors who end up exposing themselves to children. No wonder society generalizes and blames Christians for being fake. Then, there are people that are calling themselves Christians that are EXTREMIST RADICALS and are not acting on the word of God, but on their own interpretations! (THOSE ARE THE CHRISTIANS YOU MAINLY SEE ON THE NEWS!!) It is sad that ALL Christians have to take the brunt of the hatred that is brought about by a few people that don't represent Christ by their actions or lifestyle. Christians are supposed to be loving, forgiving people. So, to finally answer your question...I feel offended because TRUE Christianity is being blamed for the multitude of sins commited by those who aren't acting as Christians., but I don't take it personally. It is so sad. I feel like I wanna quote Rodney King..."CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG????" **sigh** In a perfect world we could all respect each others beliefs and LOVE each other, and especially, not kill in the name of the Lord....whoever you do or dot believe Him to be.

Christianity is a personal religion. it's not about things, but about a Person and a relationship with that Person.

When Saul (later called Paul) was hauling believers off to prison for their faith in Jesus, he had a personal encounter with Jesus in a vision:
Acts 9:4-6 4 and he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" 5 And he said, "Who art Thou, Lord?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting, 6 but rise, and enter the city, and it shall be told you what you must do."

Jesus takes persecution personally, even though Jesus was not the one Paul was persecuting directly; it was the believers.

No, it's not me that is injured by attacks on Christianity, but Jesus feels the wounds.

How can an attack on ones religion not be personal?

2007-05-16 15:40:19 · answer #10 · answered by Morg 4 · 1 0

Not really because i am a Christian and i know that there are other Christians who are true Christians that give the world reason to doubt God, because we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, but i just try to grow as close to God as i can and just bless those that curse me
