how would a doctor find out?


i have a REALLY bad sore throat. and it wont go away.
but i also have a horrible headache. i cant decide which is worse.

what can i do now. till i go to the doc?
will anything make this better?

tylenol will perhaps help the headache, keeping quiet and in a dim room will also help. The doctor will examine your throat using a toungue blade and a light, if it shows the signs of strep, he will swab the back of your throat and send it to a lab for culture. He may or may not start you on an antibiotic before he gets the culture back, depending on your other symptoms.

you can try to gargle with salt water and/or suck on some cough drops until you can get to the doc. but get to the doc ASAP! advil will take the pain out of your throat too.

you need to get a throat culture asap because this can lead to rheumatic fever= heart problems.
