From Next year!

Religion is like the LIGHT! Atheism is like DARKNESS!

You can project ONLY Light & Not Darkness, agreed?

So Darkness is the absence of LIGHT & it doesn't have its own existence!

So If Religion is totally absent, atheism will usurp its place & become a religion!

That's never going to be!

This is my personal opinion & I love Atheists too as God cares for them (prodigal children) most!

Atheism is no more a religion than the disbelief in Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny could be considered religious practices.

The only way I can see atheism being a religion is if you consider the complete lack of belief/faith in a higher being a way of worshiping oneself. That is probably a stretch though.

Dictionary definition of religion:
"Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe."
"A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship."

Since atheists do not worship anything or believe in a supernatural power, how can it possibly be a religion?

Oh, and I have to differ with the guy above me: I have NEVER been approached by an atheist and urged to convert to atheism (I'm Jewish), but I've definitely been approached by Christians urging me to convert to Christianity.

Since I just got ordained as High Priestess.

Checks for 10% of your income may be made out to the Feed Phoenix Fund (and I don't mean the city).

I will be publishing a tome of all proper procedures for being an atheist shortly. Your tax deductible donations will help speed the writing process. Any differing ideas for how to "be an atheist" however, will of course mean you aren't a real atheist.

And I will be inventing a horrible eternity of torment for those who fail the test.

Oh, you missed the memo. Here it is:

Attention fellow Atheists:
It has come to our attention that many Christians feel Atheism is a religion. Therefore, we are applying for tax exempt status and are planning on building a huge meeting house in Hell, Michigan. BYOB. See you there. Don't forget the nachos.

old school

I thought I sent it out to everyone. Sorry.

It's not...but *some* christians just can't handle the fact that we don't want or need religion in our lives...so those people label atheism as a religion...they think they are being quite smart by doing that...hoping to get a rise out of us...I think it's funny....

christians and most other religious sheep have a problem trying to define a person who does not believe in their imaginary friends. They cannot comprehend it, so in order to make their simple lives a little simpler, they have to create imaginary groups to hate. They assume that atheists must believe in something and, like I said they don't have the mental framework necessary to see reality, therefore atheists must be a religion.
