One of the many interesting topics that Sam Harris tackles in one of his books is Consciousness. What is it?
How do we investigate consciousness when it's the very tool we use to investigate?

I didn't say we couldn't do it, just that it comes with inherent difficulties.
And it's not like using a telescope to look through a telescope. Those are tools of perception, which we use to recieve input. Which takes us back to the original problem.
Thanks.

Meditation... on trying to FIND "mind" and the subsequent finding that "mind" lacks inherent existence. You use the mind to find that it exists but is an illusory thing, just like everything else in the universe. Well, that's the Buddhist answer anyway.

Consciousness is a sense of self generated by our brains. It's rather loosely defined, though.

Saying you can't investigate consciousness because it's what we use to do the investigation is like saying that you can't look at a telescope through another telescope. That just doesn't make any sense.
