I am an atheist but my children attend church with their grandparents on a regualr basis, I want them to gain knowledge from both sides of the coin in order to make an informed decision about their faith or lack there of when they are old enough to make that decision. Therefore my kids know a god with a sense of humor, not one who acts like a spoiled 3 yr old who didn't get his way.

Yes, I do teach my kids to believe in God. As a parent, I think it is my responsibility to teach my kids about Jehovah until they are able to make their own decisions. They know that Jehovah is a loving god, slow to anger, a god of justice, merciful and gives us time to get our lives right with him before the end of this system of things (satan's world). We are in the last days and no one knows the time, day nor hour that this world will come to an end and all the wicked people will be destroyed. I thank him everytime I pray for sending his Begotten son Jesus to die as a ransom for us so that everybody exercising faith in him might not perish but have everlasting life. This world is caught up on the material things and what alot of people fail to realize is that we came into the world with nothing and we leave this world with nothing. We cannot slave for two masters. God comes first always. Each day that we live is a gift from Him. That's why we need to be thankful we are alive and breathing. Never take life for granted. It can be taken away from us in the blink of an eye.

I personally was raised Roman Catholic but taught to seek my own answers. I was also taught that God was loving, not vengeful. Vengeful Gods tend to create violent sects that go through and kill people in mass numbers.
Instead of focusing on God, my mother, grandmother and great grandmother focused on teaching me right from wrong, morals, and how to "act like a lady" in general.
I plan to teach my son to act like a gentleman and let him ask his own questions and find his own answers about religion.
Props for teaching your children about a God with a sense of humor. This will allow them to see things from a non-judgmental perspective and will enable them to rationalize based on morals rather than faulty conclusions.

First off God does not dislike people he dislikes their sins...God is a loving God that loves everyone and believes and hopes for them to change their sinful lives to live for Him. That is the God my kids will grow up knowing and following as long as they are in my household.

My children and I believe that God is loving and caring much like a father. A God who wants what's best for us all, and will help us when we need it and even sometimes when we don't. But we also believe that God has rules that need to be followed, but those rules are not to hinder us or bring us down but to protect us from problems and danger. We also read the bible.

We raise our children to live their lives according to the Bible. The Bible is the one book that all people should read. It is the only parenting manual you will ever need! God is all powerful, but he is also forgiving and loving. We are all sinners and being a Christian does not make us perfect. But the wonderful thing we have taught our children is, its ok to make mistakes and sin- God will always forgive when you ask Him to! Our children are not afraid of God in the way you are implying. But they do know that for those who are not Christians, the Bible clearly tells of their future (Revelations). God Bless!

I don't plan on teaching my children that there is any one god, but that they are many religions that exist that have different ideas. That way they can make their own decisions about what to believe in without my telling them what is the correct religion.

I think that if you choose to teach your children about any particular religion then make sure they are not afraid of it and end up living their life in fear!
I personally don't necessarily believe in God persay, but I do believe in a higher power. My husband however is Christian and wants to teach our child about God and for her to be a follower. I think a child should have the right to think for themselves and be exposed to all different religions and be able to choose what they want to believe in! But they shouldn't be afraid of religion or God!

interior the tip the youngsters would desire to think of for themselves and make their very own judgements. I question your concept of 'risk-free practices'. risk-free practices over what? coaching teenagers to stay for the day is a significant situation, whether you at the instant are not quite religious. your toddlers would be perplexed in case you do not believe and then tell them to believe. How previous are your toddlers? in the event that they're older why do not you ask them what they think of. do not basically depart it to even though answer they provide. Why do not you pass with them to the library and locate books on different faiths, a minimum of in the event that they at the instant are not collaborating they'd study into them and according to danger pass to their places of worship besides. additionally, would I ask you what you do not believe. You reported you experience such as you do not belong there...is it that distinctive church or what? additionally, according to danger it is your considered God it is the situation. as an occasion, i think in God and you hinted which you do not. properly, according to danger if I heard your considered God, i'd agree and say i don't believe in that concept besides. besides, there are different paths to God then 'the church'. i don't see how residing for the day is 'useful/measurable'. it style of feels the youngsters would strengthen as much as be grasping self serving human beings in spite of the Golden Rule.
