TO come to an understanding of each other is one thing but i don't think consensus is possible. The first step is to begin with acceptance and acknowledge that the basis of all 'religion' is socio-political in nature. Humans need structure so they make one. As a woman of faith, I believe that having faith is not the same as having a religion. Walking in faith, is partially understanding that God is, and that you are living, and that whether people agree or disagree is irrelevant but mutual respect is critical to peace and wisdom in this life. I respect your individuality, and I have no right to tell you what to do. The best way for those of faith to be is just to live our life according to our faith and quit bullying others whose beliefs are different. Have respect. Thats it and don't be ignorant to science.

Objectively talk about god. Interesting concept. Atheists have been trying to do that since the first one emerged. Christians, on the other hand, have faith. They do not need, nor want, intelligence or objectivity. They only want, and have, faith - the antithesis of intelligent thought processes. I would like to be involved in an "objective" process, but as yet I have not even heard of it happening.

Atheists do not believe in god, christians do. There will never be a consensus. Atheists do not talk about god, they talk about peoples belief in a god.

"To talk objectively about god": That is very funny. Even religious people know that objective and god don't belong in the same sentence. All problem with mutual understanding comes from the theists. Atheists don't care if theists want to believe in fairy tales or give their money away to fast talking preachers. It is the theists who want others to follow their god's law in order to avoid everlasting hell, blah blah.

No need for it. I am not going to convince someone there is no god, and they will not convince me there is. I understand Christians. I was one once.
