yeah cuz they'd be really mad if we bashed them. i mean, if they don't believe in God, then that's their choice so i don't know why they can't accept it that we do

Dancer keep you chin up hun, most of your answers simply proved your point so let them dig their own hole.
They lack even the intelligence to grasp why someone might be curious as to why they are on a board called Religion and Spirituality when they do not believe in a God or Goddess or Higher Power and obviously are not spiritual. They are certainly not here to learn about religion and spirituality, so their motivation is made clear by their answers.
They are a tiny majority of people in the United States, less than 8%.
We are not influencing their country either, this is our country too and we are in the majority, so just let them be, ignore them and carry on.

Think of that the next time you see someone ignoring a person's request for privacy when presented with a biblical story. Not everybody is interested in having another person's religious views forced on them. Or, ask yourself how you would feel if someone from a different religion or culture insisted that you listen to their message and convert. Debate is good and healthy, and it's always good to hear a variety of opinions and interests, but insisting that any one religion is "the right way" is not what everybody wants to hear, and that will usually result in a reaction.

It has been speculated that they are unsure of their beliefs, that they have no ethics (which some apparently do not), that they lack any compassion and that they are flat out scared (look at how many worry about a hell they claim not to believe in). A very few may be motivated by simply wanting to understand what others beliefs are about.
Julie...surely you are not saying all atheists are gay? Is the gay section reserved for atheists? Eight thumbs up...my, my, my. I will have to tell my gay friends that they have to stop being in Jesus now. How very sad.

ooooh laur i see your being BASHED for asking a simple question. excuse me but if this is freedom of speech then people are allowed to ask this question. for serious! and im sorry that you don't respect a christian's desicion and you don't have to believe it either but i will pray for all of you to see this idea in a new perspective. I know you aren't interested in a religious speech but instead of being critical..respect choices; we respect yours.

Do I hear a whine from dancer? It sure seems so. If you would quit whining for just a second, stop to think that it is religious types who want to force their subjective view of reality on those who don't want it. As far as I can tell, it is not atheists forcing theists to have abortions against their will, tell them to chose to become gay, etc. It is the wacko theists who tell others that they are evil because the theists have some stupid notion that their god forces them to control other's lives. OK, you can go back to whining now.

Do you think this should be the Christian prayer section? You can all pat yourselves on the back, an tell each other how wonderful your faith is.
We are here to point out the hypocrisy that many of you display so openly. Think of it this way, we are making you better Christians.

Christians are just as bad. Maybe they for once, should stay out of the business of other religions and lifestyle choices.

How many christians overall would respect the choice of the atheist to believe as they will? How many would not proselytize. How many would not say they would pray for them?
Perhaps when you respect their choices, they will respect yours.

I'll answer that when you can explain to me why a family of "Christians", consisting of an adult mother, adult father, and two boys I estimate to be around ten or eleven, came to my door, offered me a Bible, I declined, they asked me why, I told them I'm an atheist, and the parents started screaming at the top of their lungs that I was condemned, evil, going to hell, and that they were going to burn my house down and kill me, refused to leave my property, and I had to call the cops to have them arrested in front of their children.
Besides, Wiccans don't believe in your YHWH fellow. Do you want them to leave too?
Last I checked, this wasn't a Christian only forum.
Deal with it.

I'm happy to respect your choice.
Do you respect mine? If so, then ask the other Christians here to do so as well. Answer just one atheist-slandering question a day as a Christian and call the asker on their lies.
You do that and I won't need to.
