no im 15 & on it. its the best diet out there! & this is the only one my mom "let" me go on lol .. definately let her if she truly needs it =]

Are you over weight too? Cause it seems to be a family issue, not the child's issues. Maybe you should go the Weight Watchers so you know what and how much you should feed them. That's what a lot of Mom's do....they go on a diet and therefore the whole family follows suit cause Mom' are the ones(usually) that cook for the family.

As long as she is consuming proteins, starches, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and a good fat on a daily basis, I see no reason why not. As long as she is getting the vitamins, minerals, and nutrition that a youngster needs, I say go for it. For every 3500 calories she either burns with exercise or eliminates from her diet, she will lose one pound. So, it's easiest to do both exercise and diet modification. Don't do anything too drastic such as going below 1200 calories per day. Losing more than 2 pounds a week is not healthy! I have a friend who now has gallstone issues from losing weight too fast and consuming a low calorie diet. And, there are ever scarier health risks that can occur. Hope this helps. Sometimes our kids disregard our messages to them because we are "only the parents." Sometimes hearing the same message from an "expert" will carry more authority.
By all means, contact Weight Watchers on her behalf. (I'm not sure if they have a minimum age to join. It would probably be easier for her if other kids were involved.)
You should also be able to get nutrition information from your pediatrician. Or he or she could put you in touch with a dietician who could help your daughter learn a healthier way to eat. One way to get her more interested is to sign her up for kid cooking classes. (Depending where you live, you could try community colleges, grocery stores, YWCA, a local farmers' market or gourmet shops. Not offered? Ask anybody who offers adult cooking classes to offer a kid version.)
Sign her up for sports or dance or swimming or aerobics this summer. Getting active will be compliment the other side of the equation. You know that, but it needs to be something she finds fun.
Remember, you are not putting her on a diet, you are changing her lifestyle.

She might be a little too young for weightwatchers, but have you heard of a place called Curves? It's a fitness club for women where you go for about a half hour a day (as many days a week as you would like). That might be better for her, and you can get involved with her, increasing the likelihood that she will keep at it. It will also most likely get her self esteem up, if she is feeling down about herself, to have you there and know that you support her enough to go thru it with her. My mom and I joined and it was really nice for me to have someone there with me and know that she supported me. Right now they have a special going on also (at least in my area they do) that you or your daughter can join for free, kinda like a buy one get one membership! Good luck!!

I would think so. I would just try to do active things with her. Bicycling, walking, swimming. Things that she will enjoy. I am not sure if Weight Watchers is the answer.

Is she extremely overweight and is it affecting her self-esteem? Then no. If she just wants to lose a few vanity pounds, then go on a diet together. Weight Watchers isn't necessary.

But why does your 14 year old daughter need WW? You control what she eats. There is no excuse for her to be that overweight.

depends on her weight
if she has weight problems then no she isnt too young
but if she doesnt have any weight problems it would be better just to keep her on like a physical exercise like sports
