My almost 2 year old son has fractured his lower leg and has a cast on it for 4 weeks. The radiologist missed the fracture the first time and 4 days later we went back and he had to get the cast. My question is - how long will it take for him to want to walk on it again? Will he be able to walk on it with the cast and when should I see him want to do this. Also he seems a lot more cranky and tired than usual. Is this normal? Help! I feel so bad for the poor little guy! He also seems not as interested in eating. He just got the cast on Mon am.

Have you taken his temperature? A fracture or broken bone will sometimes cause a slight elevation in body temperature. He probably is hurting and this is why he is cranky. They give adults pain killers for pain, and kids have to tough things like this out with children's Tylenol. As for walking, it has only been 3 days since the cast. Just keep him hydrated and give him Tylenol for the pain and possible fever. If he doesn't improve in the next two days, I would call the doctor.

that could be a huge replace for him, and he would not understand why is happened and that its not going to be this manner consistently. he will walk on it on a similar time as he feels waiting, do not push him. basically make themes uncomplicated and toddler him for some days, it gets greater effective efficient right now sufficient
