They want to "hear" (read the post about Jesus).
The don't have to be afraid to admit it.

God freaks and bible thumpers exert an amount of control over my life because religion decided that it is also political. I do not want to turn anyone away from what they believe but I do not accept that I have to have your "beliefs" shoved down my throat as many do. Also, we "atheists" would like to have an intelligent discussion with people with "faith", but faith is the antithesis of rational intelligent thought processes. You cannot hold an intelligent discussion because it all comes down to "either you believe what I do or you do not" there is no discussion on the matter. I have had a several day e-mail discussion with some one who's who approach is "my wisdom is greater and more pure than yours so you cannot see the truth". He never answered any questions I asked only alluded to my not having the knowledge he did so therefore I could not understand. He never answered or explained only told me his wisdom was greater than mine. That is not intelligent or rational, but that is the best that I have ever gotten. Believe and love whom you choose, but don't tell me it is real ONLY because you believe it. Give me proof.

Who said I'm here to convert people?
I'm just here for the discussion. Often times, it's fun, entertaining, and even once in a rare while, enlightening.
Besides, yours isn't the only deity people believe in -- this isn't the Christian chat room. This is also the appropriate place for Pagans (including sub-sects of that such as Wicca and Asatru), Jews, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, etc.
Let's say I wanted to ask a question about the best reasons *NOT* to play golf...
Would not the golf section be the most appropriate place to do so? Certainly, some would argue the point, some though would step back, ponder it, and answer.
So this is the appropriate place to discuss atheism as well, you realize.

For one thing, there are no membership requirements to this club -- it is not the private domain of anybody. For another, there are other spiritual paths and religions that are available to people, and it is always good to see and exchange a variety of interests and opinions. And lastly, until there are restrictions placed at the door, then the site is open to pretty much anybody who wants to enter as often as they wish.

i did not examine the e book you wrote, yet to respond to your tag line question........ I do this for exciting, I of course do not anticipate to transform every physique right here to Atheism or study something approximately faith i don't already understand. (substitute into religious for 18+ years) it particularly isn't meant to save the international or artwork out the communicate's between Christians and Atheism. those issues will basically be resolved while one area is whipped off the face of the earth perpetually. i don't see that occuring any time quickly for the two area. nicely.....perhaps if Islam particularly takes to the air it would lol. yet different than that.........

I don't know...when I first came here I wasn't an Atheist. I think too much of their logic and reason rubbed off on me, because I've decided to revert back to Atheism. :-)
When I was a little kid, I didn't believe in god. I knew he didn't exist and thought prayers were pointless. But I ended up getting brainwashed into Christianity because of the culture I grew up in. What a waste of life. I'm glad I am over that delusion.

To fight (with words) and argue with and about Christians. This is the ultimate fight Evil vs Good. It doesn't get any better than this!
P. S. Wait till judgement day, they'll cry themselves silly as they prepare for the fire, thinking, they blew it, their friends steered them wrong. The ultimate question: "When you actually stand before God for Judgement, what will you say then? "Their favorite song is, "Ring of Fire" by Johnny Cash.

one would hope everyone has a good sense of humor about it all. More for fun and having a laugh about how crazy my thinking was at one time.
The only ones that can be converted to atheism are the ones that post stuff like "I have been thinking..." Thats when religion ends.

We're here because of boredom, a fanscination with our own writing, etc etc...the same reason you're here.
We are discussing religion and spirituality the same way you are.
What do you get from asking this question? You're not going to chase us off or make us believe or anything any more than we are going to do such to you.

I call myself Agnostic and I actually want to learn from people with different beliefs. I always had questions as a child in church that nobody would answer. I'm looking for someone who can give me good answers to my questions.

Just because someone does not believe in your god, does not mean they don't have the answers to questions about religion. Many Atheists have a lot of knowledge about various religions.
That is what this site is for....questions and answers. (Not preaching, as some tend to think.)
