cause men wrote the bible and even through culture and movements today...men secretly wish they could treat their wives and daughters like property.

As always, they simply ignore the parts they find unpleasant, or look for some sleazy Sunday School equivocation to get them off the hook.
I can cite "Paul's" extraordinarily misogynistic Epistle to Timothy till I'm blue in the face; it simply makes no difference to the modern "Christian" woman who's decided that Christianity must only consist of things that she happens to already personally think of as moral and appropriate.
So with the whole Book and the whole religion. Nobody cares that the Bible endorses slavery - that's just a vestige of former times. But few hedge on condemning homosexuals based on the exact same texts.

People treated women poorly in Bible times, however God did not. Most of the miracle in the Old Testament that occurred for men had to do with continuing the state of Israel. The miracles for women were simply out of love, to bring them joy and to enhance their lives, or preserve their families. Christ had a special love for women, even women that would have been stoned under Levitical law He showed mercy to
Today, nations that are not Christian historically condone the worst treatment of women.
Only Christianity puts women on a level playing field with men. Women can't preach, but they have the same reward in heaven. They also have God on their side in disputes with their husbands, as the Bible says men have to be willing to give their lives for their wives and that God won't even hear a man's prayer if he isn't treating his wife well.

The bible is a mass of self contradictory stories, history and myth. Who said it has to make sense?
It was written several thousand years ago by people who thought the earth was flat and about 300 miles across. They lived in a tribal, patriarchal society under conditions that no one would put up with today. Fundamentalist Christians go through all kinds of logical contortions to try to reconcile all the weirdness, ignorance, and plain nastiness that goes on in the bible.

In the Bible there are no airplanes, no guns, no inoculations, no cats, no deep-sea fishing, no sky-diving, no a host of other stuff either.
We got smarter, we got better technology. We got better understanding of what it means to be human whether male or female.
If this is a real problem for you, perhaps you might want to investigate the possibility of becoming a Mennonite or an Amish. Of course, they're mired in the 18th century, and that's still a lot more advanced than the time of Christ, but... the alternative is to go be a hermit and ignore everything we've managed to accomplish sociologically and technologically for two millenia.

In that culture, women were indeed treated like property. However, when Christ came, He made it very clear that women were people and Messiah had come to save them from sin as well. In Paul's writing, he wrote that women were NOT to be treated as objects, but rather to be loved as Christ loves the church. Christians are not changing scripture in regard to women, they are fulfilling it.
This can be clearly seen with the woman at the well. The disciples were shocked that Jesus was speaking to a woman, let alone a "loose" woman. Jesus' message to her was that of salvation, and through her, the gospel was able to start to propagate in that city.
Paul often spoke glowingly of all the faithful women that had helped in the ministry. Usually more so than several unfaithful males.

Having read the Bible, I'm going to need you to reference where Jesus stated (or anywhere in the New Testament) that women were property, less than men, or weren't worthy of equal respect.
Women followed Jesus, and listened to his teachings. Later, after his death, some of them lead churches.
Furthermore, in the Old Testament, Wisdom is personified as a woman, and there are many examples of great women who were/are considered excellent examples and leaders of the true faith (Ruth, Deborah). In Genesis, dominion over the world and its inhabitants was given to both Adam and Eve. In both books, they are listed as poets and prophets. One of them saved two of the Apostles' lives.
Because it is, in part, a historical account of the Tribes of Israel and the building of the Christian church, there are many things that happened that we today might not agree with or support. For example, there are accounts of certain people groups burning their children in sacrifice - that doesn't suggest that Christians or Jews are supposed to do that today.

The Bible was written by men so that's why there's a 'men have power over women' attitude in some of the quotes and in those times, the attitude towards women was completely different to now. In fact, only until the late 1800s were women allowed to become doctors and only until the 20th century were women allowed to vote.
Jesus however treated women as equals. He sat with them, talked to them, let them listen to his teachings (this was COMPLETELY forbideen in those times).
Other Bible quotes teach differently though
Galatians 3.28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus
in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God." 1 Corinthians 11:7-12

The answer isn't Biblical, it is cultural. The CULTURE of the people in "Biblical" times acted according to the customs of the times. God never said it was good. Lot offered his daughters to the mob because he knew God would not allow harm to come to them. The Bible is not only Spiritual, but also Historical. We have books about how people acted in the 1920s. Most of us don't act like that today. The culture of the '20s was how people acted, not their spirituality.
