either really.. some girls might this is sweet that you want to be near them..
Oh the other hand sitting across you can hold hands and look into her eyes..
it depends on the girl.. get one of those boots that wrap around so there is an option without having to get up.

I like having my space. If a guy sat down on the same side of the booth (at a restaurant) I would think it was odd and ask if there was something wrong with the other side of the table.

Now...if it was a smoothie or ice cream place or something more casual I would think it was kinda cute!

I wouldn't say it is rude, but I personally don't like it. I rather sit across from someone just because its easier to converse with one another. As a matter of fact, my friends and I find it funny when a couple sit side by side. Then again, "different strokes for different folks." Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

I don't like it. Its easier to talk eye to eye when sitting across from each other. Side by side should only be for longterm/engaged/married people. Dating alone would tend to creep me out to have a guy sit beside me right away.

I think it's up to the couple to decide, there are no hard and fast rules. I have done both with different dates, sometimes we sit on the same side and others, facing each other.

Heck, I love it when hubby sits in the booth beside me, that is when we don't have the children with us.. we've been married for 20 years and he will sit on the same side as me and we hold hands, it's more romantic IMO.

Just sit down first, that way the girl has the option to sit either next to you or across. I prefer across because you can talk easier and its not as awkward having to turn your whole body.

It's awkward. You can't face each other when you're on the same side.

You're supposed to sit across from each other.

you should sit across from your date since you can make eye contact with her insead of looking at her sideways, plus you can grope under the table better lol

It is sweet, but only if you already know her very well, not a first date. Otherwise, she may think you're a little odd.
