I have ibs, and ive had it since I was 12 or so, and recently its gotten 10 times worst, What i did is I stopped eating bread and pasta, I eat it maybe a little every 2 weeks, if there no other dinner to think of, then I take Equate Stool softner , you can buy it at walmart, for like 4 or 5 bucks. Then i drink 6-8 glasses of water a day , but slowely or youll feel bloated, Take 2 stool softeners before you go to bed, followed by a glass of water, and right after you eat in the morning, you should have results, also try taking Metamucil powder mixed with Orange juice every single morning, try these things for a few weeks, and see how they work... also try increasing your daily fiber intake, 30-35 grams is what a person needs, you probably wont get that many, but some cereals and oatmeals have alot in them, and beans too! yeap.. lol.. beans! ur choice
feel free to IM me with questions...

I have this problem so I can relate. Everyone's system is different, first do NOT try to force the waste along as it can only make more problems when you strain. Try adding some liquid more and see if that helps things along after a few glasses. IF not , then try to eat something that has fiber in it. Try whole grain breads, cereals or sunflower seeds. Try avoiding things that don't digest as quick or easy like corn as they will block up the colon more and make it seem more uncomfortable. Give yourself time and patience. Try these. Something has to work. Find what helps make the digested food move along smoothly whether it is food, liquid, or both. Doing some excercise or just walking around for about 20-30 minutes can get that part of the body to work better and cooperate more with this.

try adding more fiber to your diet. all bran cereal is a good source of this. also if it becomes a huge problem miralax is good because it is different than a regular over the counter laxative it doesn't make you all cramp up which is good. it works for me and is now over the counter. if it gets too bad talk to your doctor. hope I helped you!
