But presumably not too dangerous for anyone else? A PR disaster no matter how you look at it.

The MoD had no intention of sending Harry to Iraq or anywhere else. They have made one very big mistake.

The Royal Family have always been in the UK Forces. Prince Philip was in the Royal Navy at sea in WW-Two. The Queen was in the Army, a driver no less. Andrew was a helicopter pilot in the Falklands War.

Harry is a spare. If he want to join his regiment in Iraq, why are they not allowing him to do so? Harry is hissed off. If I were him I'd make a big public event of handing in my commission and putting two fat fingers right up the nose of the boss of the MoD.

Harry comes from warrior stock - he wants war.

Go Harry go.

No, that's easily an incredibly sensible selection. If he have been deployed to an uneven conflict like what's at the instant happening in Iraq, the terrorist insurgents would do each and every thing of their means to kill him, because of the fact it would be a media victory, a propaganda victory. At this element in Iraq, in the counter-insurgency, the militia, jointly as nevertheless quite needed, isn't the main considered necessary element of triumphing. that's the place politics and perceptions take over. And any harm to Prince Harry would be a coup for the terrorists and heavily harm the reason of a loose Iraq. He would not be uncovered to a similar risk as each and every physique else, he'd be uncovered to noticeably greater effective risk, as would unquestionably anybody close to him, the two militia and civilian. that's why he's not being sent. It in basic terms is clever.

He doesn't have an option. The General of the Army ruled it too dangerous for him in Iraq as his intelligence had specific threats against him. Not only that, but his men would also be in more danger because of him and that is not something they need, recce is a hard enough job as it is.

Good on him for wanting to go, but it really isn't in the best interest of Iraq, Great Britain or anyone else.

Actually, the problem is that the presence of Prince Harry in Iraq would make it MORE dangerous for THE OTHER SOLDIERS IN HIS UNIT.

Prince Harry would be such a lucrative target, that every jihadist and suicide bomber in Iraq would be gunning for him and his unit just for the PR coup.

So the higher HQ decision to keep him back at home was actually the smartest decision they could make to protect as many soldiers as they could.

Why is it that you idiots are too blind to see that? It would be the same if Bush's daughters joined and went over to Iraq -- it would be worse for their compatriots than for the girls themselves.

Absolutely too dangerous. He would be a target from day one. It is dangerous for the average soldier but Harry would be in even more danger considering what a prize it would be for the other side to get him. He is putting himself in danger and any other soldiers that have to guard him.

It wasn't his decision not to go. But also think of it this way, the soldiers that we have today fighting in the war, the majority had the freedom to choice to join the army, it wasn't like it was going to be expected of them.

Unlike Prince Harry, who was the second son born, who has always been expected to be this or that, he doesn't really have the freedom to choice what he wants, or what his family asks of him.

Iraq is too dangerous for Iraquis...However, I think Bush, Cheney and Rice should visit the troops there, as soon as possible...and, I don't mean in the Green zone. And, if Harry really wants to go and fight, they should let him. Of course, nobody will want to be anywhere near him while he's there.

No, I think it would be too dangerous for any Royal soldier serving, as terrorists would specifically target them.

Bummer for Harry, he wants to go.

He wants to go....he knew what being in the armed forces would entail. He should be treated like any other member of the forces. I understand that he could be a 'target' for terrorists but any officer is and I seriously doubt that they would send him in with a big yellow banner saying...'YO...HARRY HERE'
