Do I refinish a guitar just like I would a hardwood floor?

I just did my wood floors so I am up to speed on the process. Really cool work when you see the hard work shine!

Get a book on instrument building and repair.
Much lighter finishes applied much thinner. Doing it like a wood floor with change the tone.
