I see no problem with this. I'm not christian but my grandfather is, and he also believes in evolution. He says that time is relative in the bible (for example, a "day" when talking about a nation actually means a year) so who's to say that 6 days to god wasn't billions of years down here on earth? He believes that god created the earth and everything on it, but that he did so through evolution. He still believes very strongly in the Bible, but he also believes in science.
Like you, I don't understand what the problem is with reconciling religion and science. They aren't in opposition to one another. I believe they can and do work together.

I believe in BBT (Bing Bang Theory), this has many observational evidence and mathematics which I think is almost infallable. However I do not believe in the evolution of life on our planet. The evidence for the way creatures evolve, and new species are made is in no way proven by current methods. I have researched this thoroughly so don't call me dumb (which many people assume), and even though many scientists have websites and resources dedicated to proving darwinism, it just doesn't hold water.
Also I am not a creationist or ID (Intelligent Design) advocate, these are just personal truths that I have found. Unfortunitly most people who are against darwinism are in these two groups which puts a lot of people off. I think a lot of people believe in darwinism because they don't believe in religion and there's nothing else to believe. However I don't believe in darwinism and yet am not a creationist, so I hope this can show that you don't have to believe something because there's no other choice.

Religion is not a belief - it is a theory. The religious think it is a sheer toss up between believing in God and believing in religion - the former happens via FAITH - the latter is a theory and arrives through EVIDENCE - it is not a matter of personal opinion - evolution exists regardless of what anyone believes. Those who think God started the BB or created evolution - are just not hard liners - and have yet to swallow the whole set of facts that there is no God. God could not have started the BB - it needs NO prime mover - and moreover - you'd have to ask WHO MADE GOD? Evolution functions and arrives without any help from a prime mover regardless of what ignorant opinions happen to exist - the facts are the facts.

The basic problem with believing evolution is that your denying God's word. The Bible states God created all things, not evolved all things. God's creation is the basis for faith. Then you also have to believe that God sacrificed his Son so we can be saved and live eternity in Heaven. If you believe in those two things then your fine. If not then your just believing in science. I am a Christian and I think science is a good thins. I believe it can teach us many things. As a matter of fact there are a lot of scientists that are coming to God as they learn more and more about life. These are intelligent people and they have learned that science and God can coexist. There is no way that our planet and universe just hit the lottery on so many levels. God made us and gave us science to help us understand that.

Yes the problem is that people keep wanting to put God in a box. Humans started to write down the Bible etc... when the knowledge of reading and writing were in there earliest days. They saw the world as best they could for what they knew. Now I'm a christian and I have no Problem with evolution I even agree with it. this is my opinion God created the whole thing Billions of years ago and has let his creation run its course. We are a brief part of this creation and have tryed to describe it in the best way are brains are able to understand it. As long as you allow yourself to see outside of one track thinking all is possible. But thats my opinion.

It depends, a lot of Christians see evolution as a divinely guided process, others believe in the creation of an aged earth. And then there are other religions that have less of a conflict with evolution than Christianity, and some that have more. I do think it's possible- necessary, really- to reconcile faith and science.

Some atheists can sum up the baffling, austonding absolute miracle of existence and say: "Chance! No higher power!"
Some Christians find a real spiritual relationship with a higher power and then close their minds to how baffling and astounding the absolute miracle of existence is.
But not all Christians are fundamentalists.
Not all Christians think the Bible has to be taken literally in every context.
I personally want everyone to know that Jesus is real and you can know him and his incredible love for you is everything that you are looking for.
But I also share with you an awe and even a passion for the mysteries of the world around us.

Many religions are not based on the bible like the big 3 are. They accept an evolution in a sense and not poof here's a man and woman

Yes! Even Pope John Paul II, a very religious, very holy and very learned man, said that the theory of evolution is more than a hypothesis.

Within limits, yes. You are at liberty to believe that a deity established the rules by which the universe runs, and pushed the button to start things; no scientist will claim that that is impossible. But such a belief is provably useless. As for evolution, it is a proven fact (details on request), so one may as well believe in it.
