They are killing each other, why would we want to go back? This seems like a great place for the UN, and while they are at it Darfur is nearby. Let's not forget Rwanda is heating up again, the UN is the whole beautiful world, and we're just one ugly country. And let's be real, Africa is no place for the evil white man, it smacks of colonialism. Maybe Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson can form an Black volunteer corp, like the one in Spain in the 1930's. Dream no little dreams

The Somalis are not "ragtag". They don't have top dollar equipment, but they are some of the best urban fighters in the world. Mainly because they've been fighting for several generations. The military didn't get beat in 1993. The Blackhawk Down incident wasn't a defeat. The plan went awry, but we captured a bunch of the leadership of Aidid's militia while losing 18 soldiers and killing over a thousand Somali fighters. We cut and ran because President Clinton was a spineless weenie who would rather fire tomahawk missiles from afar than confront anybody for real.
So, your "proud American Soldier" is wrong (probably fictitious, as well).

By "hard eyes" do you mean the famous "Go to H!!!" look? When you say "we" should go into Somalia, does that include you or just our troops? You state, "is that why we ran?" Were you there? You should b glad he just gave you hard eyes instead of a hard right jab! I somehow doubt he said even said they were too tough for our military. He just meant for you to "shut up" period! You shouldn't criticize people who put their lives on the line so you can be free!
ps. the "rag tag" men he was referring to was probably our good old American politicians in Washington--not the Somali's.

Probably because "We should go into Somalia" is a very Liberal thing to say, and most US fighting men have a very dim view of those types.

First, It's highly unlikely that any American military man or woman told you that "those rag tag men are too tough for the US military".
Second, the PROUD AMERICAN SOLDIER gave you "hard eyes" because you're an ignorant, know-nothing rectal orifice.
You need to change your screen name. You're definitely NOT
"erudite".

We cut and ran because Clinton got cold feet... the Blackhawks were shot down because the political leadership did not give the commander of the operation all the equipment he asked for (i.e. no air support)... a hand full of American Special Forces Operators with virtually no air support killed more than 1,000 Somali militia members losing 19 of their own before Clinton ordered them home... in the end their "target", the militia leader, was mysteriously killed... who's too tough for who?

To answer your question, we are already have one war going on...one at a time...otherwise, we would risk another World War, if we haven't already dropped a pebble to cause a ripple effect.
