When you boil the pepper before stuffing, you are actually doing so to remove some of the strong pepper taste. Also, since we here in cajun country stuff our peppers with either a rice dressing mixture or a seafood mixture which is usually already cooked, once you put the filling in the pepper we just bake the stuffed peppers long enough to brown the bread crumb topping so if the pepper is blanched already and then just cooks for 15 to 20 minutes, it isn't a hard pepper that you are biting into. (That is unless you like it hard - I don't)

Stuffed peppers are a fave of mine. I usually start with decent sized green peppers (but you can use the red, orange or yellow). I cut the tops off and clean them out. Then I mix hamburger, egg, rice, salt, pepper and some different seasoning (to taste). I then stuff the pepper and replace the top. I always put my stuffed peppers in the crockpot on low with V8 juice poured over them. I also will place 2 beef cubes in with that to help flavor them. I let them cook for about 8 hours or so on low. They are delish and you can even make up extras and freeze them. Enjoy!!

I like to make stuffed peppers in the crockpot, which means that you don't have to boil the peppers at all:

4 medium green bell peppers
1 lb. ground beef, lean
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 1/2 cups cooked rice
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 large jar spaghetti sauce (about 32 ounces)

PREPARATION:

Mix ground beef, onion, rice, and seasonings well. Cut tops off of peppers and hollow out, removing any seeds. Stuff peppers with equal portions of ground beef mixture. Place stuffed peppers in Crock Pot, cover with spaghetti sauce.

Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours on until ground beef is cooked through and pepper is tender.

Making stuffed peppers is a good way to use your leftover meat loaf. Take the seeds and membrane out of the peppers. (save the tops) crumble your leftover meatloaf and stuff the peppers. put the tops back on them. put them in a baking dish, pour a can of crushed tomatoes or tomato juice over them, cover with foil, and bake in 325 degree oven until peppers are done.

you choose cooked rice (no longer uncooked), floor meat (a mix of hamburger and 'u . s . beef sausage' is impressive), an egg, and the two arranged 'Italian Seasoning' or a mix of oregano, basil, and garlic. mixture the remat with the spices and egg, and then mixture in the rice till this is approximately 3/4 'meat' and a million/4 rice. cut back the tops off the peppers and scoop out the seeds and the 'separators' and then, utilising a spoon, stuff the peppers besides as available. whilst they are filled, set them UPRIGHT (open end on the proper) and touching in a baking dish, and prepare dinner at 350 levels for an hour ... then positioned on some no meat marinara sauce, prepare dinner ten extra minutes, and serve ...

It all depends upon your taste. Most people I know like to bake their stuffed peppers, however I like to keep them in a pot on the stove and simmer them all day long. In my opinion, they are much moister than if I bake them. There's no need to boil your peppers prior to cooking them unless you like them really mushy.

I make them the same way as Libbyami. I do soften them in the microwave for one minute to soften before stuffing. I usually make 8 peppers. That way I can freeze 4... and they do freeze well.

No it is not necessary, If you like them crunchier do not boil but if you like them to be a little softer just boil for about 5 minutes.

No, don't boil them. Just stuff em.

Bake them stuffed with ground beef, tomato sauce and rice.
