You need to make a lifestyle change. Statistics show that people are more sucessful at keeping off weight that is lost through healthy diet and exercise.
I am trying to lose about the same amount of weight as you mentioned and I have been losing about 2 pounds a week. I started changing my eating and exercise habits on April 7, 2007 and have lost 16 pounds as of May 15th, 2007.
I joined weight watchers and attend the weekly meetings and workout at my new gym 4 days a week. I have only been attending the gym for 2 weeks, but I do 20 minutes of cardio and 2 sets of upper body or lower body weight training.
Good luck to you!

you should check out sparkpeople.com it offers a ton of information and it's all free. whoever said walking doesn't work is lying because I started walking and it does work especially if you have a treadmill. But diet is also a big part. you should keep a food journal for a week or two and right down everything you eat, when you eat, and how much. Even write down when you have a piece of gum or water. Then look at this and see how many calories you are consuming daily. For women I think the highest you should be intaking is around 2,000 calories. If you exercise you will burn some of those calories and lose weight. Good Luck!!!!!

Well you can use this exercises program called Hip Hop Abs. It guarantees you lose some pounds within a week but it also has a diet plan. I am using it but I haven't done the week thing with diet. My dad did the diet and he lost a lot of weight.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Sorry to say, but weight loss that is too fast is dangerous and you are more likely to gain it back and then some. The safest and most effective way to lose weight is the old fashioned way: diet and excersize. But, I really recommend the book "You:On a Diet" It approaches diet from a scientific way that motivates you to not harm your body with all those bad foods. I hope this helps.

as a "proud army wife", your husband may know a thing or two about physical fitness. ask him, his peers, and/or their spouses for exercise tips. as for me, find a physical activity that you enjoy... be it exercising, dancing, playing sports, whatever and do it... a lot. the thing with weight loss is that you have to burn more than you eat, so cleaning up your diet is a must. stay away from sugars, junk food, soda/pop and all that bad stuff. the weight loss will then just be a byproduct of your healthy and active lifestyle.

There is no other way. There are no magic bullets. It all comes down to eatign right and getting alot of exercise (and wlaking doesn;t count unless you are really old or ill). Sorry, but that's the truth. Everything else is just a sales pitch, and it won't work.
