I live in Houston (713). I have friends who live in the suburbs of "Greater Houston" - Cypress, Sugarland, Katy, Friendswood, Pearland, The Woodlands, etc. I prefer for them to come to Houston to party/hangout. I am 20 minutes from downtown, 30 minutes from the galleria, 20 minutes from Upper Kirby, 20 minutes from Montrose... In short (distance-wise too), I am near every where I want/need to go. I have traveled to their areas for events like baby showers and the occasional party. But, other than that I just prefer that they come to into Houston to hang out. It was their choice to move way out there anyway and I am near everything. Am I a b*tch for thinking they should drive into Houston to hang out most of the time?

I'm the same way. Unfortunately since they are your friends, you will have to make compromise sometimes (if you want them to remain your friends). It seems you do make allowance for special events. Is this enough? (You may have to ask each particular friend their opinion as some may not mind as much as others.)

It also depends on where you are going that day/evening. Is the final destination of the outing closer to you or them? If the desination is in Houston-"proper" or if there are several of you meeting from different areas it may be best for them to come to you.

I just moved to Houston (Cypress actually) and I'm having the same issue. I think the true answer is HOW MUCH DO you value the time spent with those friends. If special occasions are good enough then do worry about it. To me my friends are worth the buzz kill of driving 30min to hang out.

Also I dont think its wrong of you to want them to come in town to hang out, just be willing to return the favor every once and a while!

I don't think you are a bytch. I think that it would be good to go hang out in their areas sometimes just to be nice. People like a chance to be the host. Everyone knows you live in the hotspot epicenter of the universe. They probably would just as soon hang there, but I'd back off. They probably feel guilty sponging off you all the time.

I don't know why you would think they should always come to you, even if you do live in the city. If they are worthy of your time, you should be willing to go to their houses too. Friendship is about give and take, not what is most convenient for one friend.

If you all plan to go somewhere together in Houston, then it makes sense to meet at your place, but if you are just hanging around someone's house, then it is only fair to alternate.

You should take turns. If you expect your friends to always come to you, you will find that they stop coming. Especially with gas prices as high as they are now.

why not make a pact with your pals and take turns one night they come out to you another time you go to them. me and soem of my friends have this pact since we live in different provinces and it works pretty good for us. we space it out a little more than you would obviously but you get hte point.

Each friend should take turns making trips to different areas. I do it with my friends and they live in different states.

I think you should make a compromise.Take turns going to each others different cities...i.e. you make a trip up there, next time they come to where you are. or vice versa...
