I read recently that the same character was also equated with Abraham.

Brahma is the Hindu Creator God. His contemporaries are Shiva, the Destroyer God, and Krishna, the God of Life. It's the circle of life. We could sing.

Anyway. Voltaire, specifically, speculated that there is a connection between the Israelites and Hinduism based on Abraham's name. Abram was famous in Persia and India and some believe was Zoroaster.

NO NO NO! The Hindu deity Brahma is the 'head hancho' God, but his role in Hinduism is much smaller than the Alpha-Omega God for Abrahamic faiths. The deities of Hinduism are more like angels. They have magical, superhuman powers, but they aren't above the laws of karma.

A good human can become a God, even a Brahma. Now, in Hinduism there is also Brahman (not to be confused with Brahma). This is a pantheistic perception of a God that is much closer to our conception of the Alpha Omega God. Brahman includes the laws of karma, which are 'God's will' (in a sense) for Hindus.

Well, about 900 million people are quite familiar with the Hindu gods, being Hindu themselves.

Hinduism has been around longer than Abraham.

I don't see how that he is associated with Abraham. Abraham never went to India as far as we know. too far for him to walk.
