Would be good for humanity?

Is Athesim going to stop:
Crime in all it's forms, Murder, Rape, Alcohol and Drug abuse,
School shootings, Emotinal Pain in people's lives?

Religion cannot solve all these problems, because we live in a in-perfect world, but at least GOD has helped millions of people in prison, in a 12 Step Program which is based on a *Higher Power*

Children in religious schools do not worrry about guns and metal detectors, and children with faith have more respect for there parents and are less inclined to commit crimes or become sexually active and get involved in drug abuse. This is verified as well by our Government.

So how can you dispute the fact that GOD helps people daily and influences there life for the better..

NO man has been able to wipe-out GOD or faith why try, when you know that is one loosing battle.

Alright, we've tried theism for 6,000 years, let's try something that might work.

Atheism is not the answer. Rational thinking is, and all gods may or may not be a casualty.

The more improtant question would be...why would you??
Is it because your parents "told you so"? Or is it ignorance? Or maybe laziness and it is easier to "believe" that we are "good" because we love God and bad because satan made you do it??? God doesn't "help" people daily, YOU help yourself daily.
There are MANY god lovers thatthat commit crimes, are sexually active and do drugs. This is not exclusive of non-believers.
Atheists do not want to wipe out God, we simply do not believe in the first place. We want to speak out and ask people to start to really think about what they are believeing...God or the tooth fairy, pink flying elephants...it doesn't matter. You cannot justify living your life in a moral way because there is a guy in the sky watching you....

Well, let's see.

The mose secular nations have the least crime. It's proven that in advanced democracies, the more people believe in god the more societal problems they have. A great example of this is the USA.

The majority of crimes are committed by Christians, Muslims, and other religious people.

Your statement about children in religious schools is just wrong. In fact, a recent study showed children in religious schools are no different than their counterparts in public schools when it comes to sex, crime, and drugs. In some cases, worse.

Show me one instance of god actually helping anyone. Verify it. A good verification would be god's signature on a receipt saying "I did this".

No need to try and wipe-out god, he's about to collapse of his own weight of illogic and nonsense.

Because humanism is good for humanity?

You forget dear, more people were killed in the name of religion than anything else. If people didn't go around killing each other in the name of their god, the world would most certainly be a better place.

If people didn't look forward to the afterlife to the point were they think this life is worthless and just a "shadow of things to come", they'd take better care of out planet Earth and would take better care of themselves and society. People would try to make heaven on earth instead of waiting around for death.

I will dispute that "God" helps people in their lives...for many people belief makes it much worse. All that guilt and worry, all that time wasted, life wasted.

False hope is no hope at all, merely delusion.

Everything you state is either completely false or exaggerated or has nothing to do with religion.

When has religion ever stopped murder, rape, or emotional pain? Why is the narcotics industry more lucrative than oil if religion works so well to stop it?

Sounds like we need to get our heads out of the clouds of religion and start taking actual action to fix these problems.

God isn't going to stop those things completely either. You're making a lot of false claims there. I've met plenty of religious criminals, nymphos, druggies, drunks, and people who didn't respect their parents. It's not healthy to fool yourself like that.

Also, 12 step programs weren't a good thing to bring up. Those people force God onto their clients by making it one of the steps. They're also connected to many christian groups so I wonder how that agenda got pushed? I quit drinking by myself because I decided that I should stop. Smoking too. Taking advantage of alcoholics/drug addicts who have run out of options by saying they have to believe in God in order to kick their habits is an awful thing to do. You shouldn't be proud of that.

Well we can try.

You give religion way too much credit. Most of those murderers, rapists and school shooters, identify themselves as Cristian. The Christian right, are the ones apposed to gun control.

As far as schools, if you want to hand pick the students and not give access to all, of course there is going to be less crime and divisiveness.

Get over yourself, religion is the plague of our generation.

Children with faith are less inclined to commit crimes or get involved with drugs....?

You might want to check the stats on how many religious vs. non-religious are in the jails.

I think a system of rules is good for everyone. It doesn't have to tie in with a supreme deity. Good things and bad things are done no matter if the person doing them believes in a supreme deity or not.

You are hopelessly out of touch with the history of Christianity. It destroyed the Roman empire and caused the European dark ages. Christianity is the single greatest source of ignorance and evil in recorded human history. I suggest you visit the following website and see for yourself how humanity has suffered while your favorite faith was busily undermining human civilization.

Damn! There I go again, trying to reason with a Christian! Believe any damn fool thing you please..... Just keep your ignorant superstitions out of America's laws, schools, science, and government !!

How can you dispute that God is a reality and not mass hysteria that guilts and scares its followers into behaving? Just because we do not fall for it, does not make us immoral. You cannot label ANY group as immoral as a whole, there are exceptions to everything.
