No where. A computer is just a machine. It only understands 'on' or 'off' (01010101011000110).

it depends on what level of evolution it had attained. If it was a cavemannish pc and had no hard drive and only two 5-1/2" floppies and an 8088 5 mhz processor, then it would be in a dreamlike state and be reincarnated as the next level of pc, it would time travel to 1991 and be reborn as a 'super-fast' 80386 16 blazing mhz with a HUGE 40mb hard drive. If it lived a good life as that machine, then it might get reborn as a 486, or if was bad and crashed too many times on it's user it might have to come back as an Apple II.

It is re-incarnated in your newest windows version available next year.
This way there is always room for improvement.
I just had help installing a computer program. The program installed part way and gave an error message demanding immediate discontinuation which of course I complied with.
The assistance I got by calling in told me to ignore the error 4 times and then it would go away. That repeatedly done throughout the installation finally did the trick.
Yeah, 1965 OP sys is in there and ticking like a time-bomb.

Well, Linux operating systems go to heaven because they are fully transferable under the GPL. However, Microsoft operating systems are consigned to continual purgatory for fear that Microsoft might try to sue everyone in the afterlife for piracy.

The same place where my missing sock of a pair and those pencils and paperclips go. They escape to a secret dimension where they do things that only abstracts like an dead operating systems can enjoy.

Babbage and Boole watch over all operating systems! Many will have their code recycled and will operate again in a transformed capacity, after being renamed and upgraded of course.
