The Illuminati (or illuminumpty - I love that word!) is the name for several groups, maybe real maybe not. Usually it refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminumpty, an Enlightenment secret society founded in the late 1700s.
But - conspiracy theories indicate a purported shadowy organization which secretly controls world affairs, (usually a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati.) Sometimes referred to: New World Order (NWO).
Many Conspiracy theorists believe the Illuminati (The People of The Light), or illuminated ones, are the masterminds behind events that will lead to a New World Order.
OR: the Illuminati refers to an elite set of enlightened individuals ( No, no Scientologists) who may not cooperate but are uniquely empowered by their enlightenment, education, and intelligence. (people who have become illuminated and have achieved a higher mystical understanding of the universe).

Unfortunately the Freemasons aren't spiritually advanced enough to be a part of The Illuminati. Besides, some things are better left to mystery and supposition of erroneous theory.
You would have a better chance of understanding the Holy Trinity than to pry for information that you shall never be able to fathom in its purpose.
As a member of a society involved in the study of human phenomena i beseech you to cease this impetuous and uninformed search for things that the majority of the populace aren't prepared to acknowledge, let alone accept.

no one knows for sure.... there are some who are concidered part of it... but the actual people are not known except to those involved. The Masons are just one of many groups in various levels of the control structure below the Illuminate... Only the Very Highest level Masons are part of the world control infrastructure..... those Masons who may hold high elected public office are not generaly tuly in the loop of the highest power structures.

I think the Illuminati have disbanded. I'm not sure about Freemasons-I remember hearing that some Freemasons became Illuminati but there were many (Freemasons) who were not. I would think wikipedia would have more info on it.

As far as the evidence goes the Illuminati are headed by the powerful banking families such as the Rothschilds, Warburgs and Rockefeller`s etc.
