I suppose the first question wasn't adequate enough for some of you. Why do so many people have negitive opinions about the US Military when they have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about? Good enough explination for you?

Because since 1973 we have not had a draft. We now have a whole generation of people who had no desire to serve, were never at risk of serving and therefore never served. They get their "Intel" about the military from stupid movies and TV shows.

Many actually think you can disobey orders in a combat zone if they are "too dangerous." They think terrorism can be handled as a crime rather than an act of war. They want to go back to the days of Clinton and the one-a-year terrorist attack and the subsequent arrest and trial. They do not like the idea that we should actually kill the terrorists.

It's easy to figure out the military. One joins up....Goes to boot camp....Gets yelled at all day long....learns how to obey orders like a robot....Goes to an illegal war....Learns it's like Vietnam all over again....Turns against the war...serves 4 years and gets out with an honorable discharge.....Joins an anti war group.....then is told by the neocons he is Anti American and should be put in prison. The Ex military tries to get a job but there are no jobs. Most jobs have gone to China. The Ex military man ends up homeless and lives under a bridge. The police show up and tells the man "Get out of here you low life". The man can't move fast enough so he's arrested and thrown in jail. Now the veteran has a record. He gets out and tries to get a job but can't because he has no address and he's homeless. He ends up walking the streets and the American people look at him with a feeling of hate. However, the newly arrived Arab arrives into the USA and in a matter of days he has a nice house and a good job. Then a new car and for the arab the USA is a great place. For the Veteran he makes friends with the rats and both eat out of the trash dumpster.

Because the vast majority of them have no exposure to anything related to the military except the utter garbage they are spoonfed on the TV night after night.

It's not just military related. I find that most Americans are clueless about pretty much everything.

Clueless with regard to what? War? Day to day life? that the Army is made up of individuals and not just 'troops'?

Clueless about what?

What the military does?

Why we have a military?

Why anyone would join?
