(He said "son of man" quite frequently, and at one point
referred to himself as "a son of god," but that was a common
Hebrew expression at the time. Someone who was "a son of god" was a Jew. This reflected the Israelites' belief that they were the chosen people of your god. See Job 1:6).

Why, then, do you believe that Jesus was divine? If you don't believe that Jesus was divine, then why do you call yourself a Christian?

Christians didn't as a matter of policy, believe Jesus to be divine until The Council of Nicaea held in 325 AD. And it is interesting to note that the only way they got consenous on the Arian question was through assassination and by having the emporer interceed. When the the emporer, several years later decided he maybe had backed the wrong horse (and he only backed him for political reasons to begin with) and invited the main adherent of Arianism back to make his case... the guy mysteriously died on the toliet, bowel explosion, which was the result of a common poison used in that time...

Of course, Christians would know that if you actually studied their religion instead of its dogmatism.

I'm confused about your question or are they just comments to open a discussion?
"At no point in the four Gospels did Jesus claim to be the son of your God?"Are you asking if Jesus claimed to be the son of God in the four Gospels? If so, the answer is yes.
Is this one question?
"Why, then, do you believe that Jesus was divine? If you don't believe that Jesus was divine, then why do you call yourself a Christian? ", or individual questions? "Why, then, do you believe that Jesus was divine?" Because it is well documented in the four Gospels and because God has revealed Himself to me personally in the form of Jesus Christ. "If you don't believe that Jesus was divine, then why do you call yourself a Christian? ", Moot point, I do believe He is divine (not "was").

John 14:9-11

9Jesus answered: "Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 10Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves."

Matthew 16:16-18
16Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ,[a] the Son of the living God."
17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven."

If this isn't Jesus claiming to be the Son of God, I don't know what is!

Mark says it on the outset of his gospel (a million:a million). The angel advised Mary her toddler may be the Son of God (Luke a million:35). The centurion suggested so (Matthew 27:fifty 4). The demons referred to as Jesus the Son of God (Matthew 8:29; Luke 4:40-one; Mark 3:11). The charge against Jesus advance into that He claimed to be the Son of God (Matthew 27:40 3; John 19:7), a declare He on no account denied, and in basic terms approximately admitted (Luke 22:70). Why, you are able to ask, does Jesus no longer say so it seems that. i think of the respond is contemporary in Matthew sixteen:15-17: 15 He suggested to them, “And who do you're saying that i'm?” sixteen Simon Peter spoke back, “you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus spoke back him, “you're blessed, Simon son of Jonah, via fact flesh and blood did no longer show this to you, yet my Father in heaven!” (Matthew sixteen:15-17). Jesus did no longer choose Peter and His disciples to have self assurance He advance into the Son of God in basic terms via fact He suggested so. He wanted God to convey them to this end, based upon the overpowering evidence of Scripture and our Lord’s life and coaching. MIMI

Let me make it simple Matthew 3 verses 16 & 17
16: And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway our of the water: and, lo. the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a sove, and lighting upon him:
17: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

In Johns Gospel we read of the great `I Am`something only God could say about Himself;
(John 8:58) I tell you the truth,before Abraham was `I` Am`
Christ knew well who He was and would not have dared utter such a statement being Jewish and certainly not at that time in it`s history, now the question is who do you say He is.

Matthew 26:63

He was asked if he was the Son of God, and he said he was.

That's why the Jews wanted to kill him. Blasphemy.

Every Christian believes that Jesus is Divine (note the present tense) still alive, and fixin' to come back pretty soon to whup some hiney.

He said I am in the father and the father is in me, we are the same, to know the father is to know me etc..
Besides saying I am the way, the truth and the light and no one comes to the father but by me

If you are talking about why he didn't defend himself at the end to Pontus Pilate and whatnot that was because he knew what was happening was supposed to happen. He did not want to interfere with God's will. He kept on, and he knew that he was sacrificing himself for us.

You start by saying that "At no point in the four gospels did Jesus claim to be the son of your God," but you contradict yourself two lines later and admit that he DID say that but you excuse it away. Sorry, but if you can't get your story straight, why should I address it?
