I've heard that you are supposed to shampoo your hair twice before you use conditioner....is that true and why?

I do it occasionally, not all the time though cause I'd run out of shampoo faster.

It doesn't dry your hair or scalp out, so don't believe that. But see, the first time you wash your hair and rinse it...it's still dirty! I know right? But if you notice, the first time you lather...it doesn't foam a whole lot. Rinse that out and don't use as much shampoo the first time of course, but if you lather it up again it foams SO much.

I do it about twice a week...usually if I have to dry my hair with a blowdryer or I want to look extra nice...of course it could by a pyschological thing too.

This is the basic advice given by all Salon Specialists who work with hair. The reason being is to ensure that all of the dirt, impurities and oil are completely removed, thereby leaving the hair clean and able to be more effectively treated by the conditioner you use. On the other hand though, I have found that if you do a very decent job of washing your hair, then rinsing it out thoroughly the 1st time, that the 1 wash/rinse may be adequate before applying the conditioner. Other factors to consider are the type of hair (texture of) that you have, the length of your hair, how oily your hair is, has your hair been colored or treated in any way, etc.

No I dont think that is true...I actually heard that you should only wash your hair every other day...but I dont do that I wash mine everyday cuz I have to...but anyways there is a 2-in-1-shampoo and conditioner by herbal essences that works great and then you wont have to use shampoo and conditioner separetly.....

Shampoo bottles use to have directions on them that said to soap up twice...I use to do that, but somewhere along the way i stopped doing it...I think my hair does just fine with one shampooing.

The first shampoo gets the loose debris and oils the second finishes the job. Especially if you use lots of styling products on your hair. And if your hair is longer it just works better.

You only really need to do it once unless your having problems with your hair feeling greasy or something. But it's up to you. It may dry your hair out to shampoo it too much.

Unless your head is extremely dirty, like you had sand poured over it, once is sufficient. Too much shampooing will dry out your hair and scalp.

People wash their hair more often than they used to, so once is adequate except for the truly filthy!
