What were some effects on the death of Pope John Paul II?
Just wanted to know people's opinion, and PLEASE DON'T be offensive about it.

There was of course a lot of sadness amongst Catholics and also feelings of gratitude for the pontificate of Pope John Paul,inside the Vatican although there was sadness as well it did not stop the daily affairs of the curia as it is not considered the end of the world and the wheels just keep turning.
Probably the greatest blow was felt by the world`s youth who saw in Pope John Paul a really good friend and advocate.

John Paul II can't say there were any personal effects in my life but to those people that cared for the man I would send them my personal regrets on this lose of a loved one.

From an atheist perspective, I thought it was the last symbol of "respectable" religious figureheads for believers. Let's face it, believer or not, there's a lot of corruption in the church. I think most people however, liked PJPII quite a lot and at least appreciated all he tried to do. I do NOT include myself in this, but understand why people thought that. I don't think they have the same "faith" in this new guy.

I can tell you some of the effects of his life, though
(edit) I do at times feel as if he hasn't really gone anywhere though. Isn't that strange.

I think he was a moderating influence on the Catholic church. It's more radical and conservative now that he is gone and that has increased the mistrust of non Catholics worldwide.
