I was drafted in 1970. Served in the 82d Airborne Division from '70 to '73. Tried to go National Guard a couple of years ago. Tried to reenlist army last week. They said I was too old on both occasions.

Guess I'll have to wait until we run out of younger guys.

If a draft had been instituted when I was in the most vulnerable age range (20-25), or if the Selective Service has to dig deep enough to call me up (I'm not a kid anymore), I wouldn't wait for my number to be called. I'd probably volunteer - better chance of getting a decent MOS that way.
