My daughter's dad is allergic to almost every fruit worth eating... strawberries, peaches, pears, apples, and bananas. What are the chances of her being allergic to the same things? She just started on solid food.

allergies are definitely genetic so I'd say your daughter will probably be allergic to some of the fruits your husband is. The most common fruit allergies are strawberries and oranges so I recommend allergy testing for her just so she can try each of these foods in a controlled setting where there are doctors ready with an epi-pen if need be. Good luck

There has been limited research on a specific gene that causes common allergies, however, if one uses a scientific analysis model chart of dominate and recessive inheritance. Assuming the child would inherit a gene from both parents. If both parents had only dominate genes for a allergen it would be 100%, if one parent had a recessive gene(or a off gene) it would be 25%, if both parents had a recessive gene for the allergen it would 50%. Also, if one parent had only dominate genes and the other parent had only recessive genes (no allergen) the child chances are 25%.
I am not aware of test available to test dominate or recessive gene of parents. You may want to talk to your physician about your concerns.

Wait until she is at least two years old before you give her those foods. Also wait till she is two for eggs, peanuts, and oranges.
She could become allergic to the same things. My mom and I are both allergic to poultry.
