I have been involved in both agriculture and small-scale construction.
I have personally seen contractors having difficulties attracting legal workers to these jobs even though the construction jobs pay between $15 and $20 per hour.
Regardless of your view of illegal immigration, there are jobs that your everyday American refuses to do, at least not at a wage that allows the business to continue to provide services at a reasonable cost.
Do you realize how much strawberries and lettuce would cost if the farmers had to pay $20 per hour to get legal workers out into the sun?

I know from experience and have seen and heard that a lot of able body Americans that would not do the jobs that a lot of them would do. Like picking in the fields from sun rise to sunset. also other jobs that requires long hours for little pay. Before you ask yes I am an American and have been since the day I was born. Yes I have done these kind of jobs. I have done the long hours like anywhere from 12 to 18 hour days doing field labor. I know alto of people who could this work but choose not to. So until we can put our selves in their shoes we should not condemn them for being here.

Haven't you heard? All Americans are fat, lazy and spoiled with riches beyond the wildest dreams of most illegal immigrants, so according to those harboring those fugitives (illegal aliens), it's any job that requires physical labor. Actually the jobs that Americans won't do are the jobs that pay about $2.00/Hour with no taxes taken, no social security taken (or matched) and absolutely no benefits or retirement plan. Americans believe in their labor laws as much as we do our immigration laws and believe that employers have a responsibility to provide adequate compensation and safe working conditions. The answer lies in prosecuting those employing illegal aliens and taking away the financial advantages of outsourcing jobs to other countries.

Murder - Did you know that the LA Times did a report that stated that 95% of the murder warrants in the county were for ILLEGAL ALIENS and that 75% of the people in the county on the Most Wanted list are ILLEGAL ALIENS? Wake up, people! Illegal immigration is a HUGE problem! An illegal in Oklahoma was driving drunk and not for the first time either, and hit a car carrying a mother and her child and the child was killed. He was let out on bail the next day and guess what? HE WENT BACK TO MEXICO TO AVOID PROSECUTION! Enough is enough!

Agricultural jobs which require long hours under a difficult conditions have been mostly done by illegal immigrants. When there was a crack down on hiring illegals there was a cover story on Yahoo of a woman whose crops went bad because of lack of employees so there are jobs out there americans do not want to do even we think its a false statement.

Working in slaughter houses! Would you work in 114 degrees, on your feet 8 hrs. a day, covered in blood, smelling like cow ****? I don't think you would. You tell us what jobs you would turn down!
There are some hard working Americans that would take this job, but the percentage is very low! Most rather be on welfare than have a decent job.

I ran a staffing office and when we would have bad papers catch up with a latino, they were mostly employed at meat processing plants. I never had much luck with our homegrown sissies. They didn't want to get dirty, and the smell was too bad and their best friend just got some rabbit tobacco.

I can't say I like the illegals, but their cheap wages keep the price of consumables down. Otherwise, we would have to pay $5 for a bananna

The answer is Americans will do those jobs that, "only illegal immigrants will not refuse." They are actually taking work away from legal citizens.
