Thanks. It's amazing how much time makes a difference. Right after I came back from Nam, I was in the airport in New York and was spat upon and called a baby killer. Now, people are thanking me. I appreciate it, but I sure wish someone had thanked me in 1968.

Thank you, that's very kind.
To be honest though, actions speak louder than words.
We have soldiers - heroes - dying every day, yet we aren't flying our flags at half-mast every day. If we can't deal with the sight of that, do we have any business sending our troops into war?
Walter Reed was recently politicized in the news but not enough people have demanded change in Veteran's care. If someone takes an oath to die for, fight for, and take orders on behalf of their country, and then serves honorably; that person should receive complete medical care for the rest of their life, no?
Don't get me wrong, as a vet I appreciate your words, I just think Americans should pay better attention to how politicians treat their vets and write push them to take better care of them when they've completed their service.
Otherwise, all the thanks in the world amounts to lip service.

that's awesome to hear, thank you, my son's friend died in iraq on saturday, in baghdad. when alex (varela) joined the army last year, my son told him he looked up to him and he wanted to join too. he told him not to, he never said he regretted it, he just told him not to. now he's gone, he was 19, my son will be 18 this year. he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country and freedom. if it wasn't for people like him being there, we would not be safe here.
they say there are only 2 defining forces that have ever offered to die for you: 1. jesus christ
2. the american G.I.
one died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
you might want to pass this on, as many seem to have forgotten both of them. thanx again..................

Thanks for caring. Too many people log into this site and badmouth the military for serving our country or this president, or whatever. It is good to have some one say thanks once in a while.
