Lighthouses are more helpful than churches."
-Ben Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanack, 1758
"History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Alexander von Humboldt, 1813
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind."
-Thomas Paine, The Age of Reason, 1794
"Christianity...[has become] the most perverted system that ever shone on man....Rogueries, absurdities and untruths were perpetrated upon the teachings of Jesus by a large band of dupes and importers led by Paul, the first great corrupter of the teaching of Jesus."
---Thomas Jefferson
“In Christianity, an individual relying on good actions is considered Cursed. Why do good ? (Lord Dilhouzy, St. Paul and His Doctrine)
"If the moral code given in the gospels is implemented in a society, there will be only one result of the undertaking : sudden death ! (Professor A.N. Whitehead, Adventure of Ideas)

People want to make out our founding fathers as Christian.
I got an E-mail the other day from some very confused girl, telling me that the founding fathers made a Christian country, and that is the basis of the US.
Ben was a man ahead of his times in so many ways. Someone I personally would have loved to have known.

How dare you point out the fact that some of the most influential people in the history of our country had the ability to think freely. You sir, should be sent to Guantanamo Bay, and be ruthlessly tickled by a homophobic Christian with a feather, until you see the 'truth?'.

it all sounds wonderful, but is it all sound doctrine, (didn't he belong to some kind of "orgy" club) anyway, in the Tibetan New testament compiled by Glenn Kimball, it is said that Jesus defended the Strict LAWS of body cleanliness, saying that not everyone is capable of keeping the laws all the time. Sometimes Moderation is useless, for example in the Feast of the passover a lamb is killed and feasted upon until it is fiinished eaten. dont know about imitating Socrates as a HIGH profile example of righteousness. the bible says not to entangle onesself in the philosophies of men. under Justice, that almost sounds LIKE double-speak from the book 1984

They're always calling people Christians who aren't Christians here. Darwin gets it regularly, as does Einstein. I'm waiting for one of them to say it about Dawkins.
They only do it to dead people actually. Secretly they know that death is the end and that they can lie about people as much as they want if they're dead.

Thanks again for educating the masses.
