Neither my sister or I will EVER serve. I've read enough and talked to enough people to know that this country treats its vets like trash

Joe Bloe: the cowards are the republicans. by the way, dodging a draft, like in Vietnam, was hardly cowardly.

I say no...I have two children that would probably be the first to get drafted. I think instead of bringing back the draft, we should bring back the men and women that are in Iraq now.

I oppose the Invasion of Iraq but I foavor the draft.
I think a standing Army of 2 or 3 million men would be fine. We could put them to work on a lot of projects, like the border.
It used to be a "rite of Passage" for males. No one would hire you for any meaningful job until you had completed your Military Obligation.
Our youth need a structured environment and some hard experience. Shared adversity builds character.
Just today I read about a 23 year old moron, who, while drunk, threw a large rock through the windshield of a Fire Truck that was responding to a call. I had to think, why wasnt this moron in Iraq.
Why wasn't the Virginia Tech Shooter in Iraq.
A good 20 miles with full field pack does wonders for aggression.

The country should not bring back the draft and here's why. What is more efficient a factory where everyone feels the need to work and does so for the benefit of themselves and the people the factory serves, or a factory where everyone is forced to work whether they want to or not?

The draft is the same way. When you have an army of volunteers who feel the need to serve for what ever reason are more efficient than those who are forced to serve. Vietnam proved this.

No. As a democracy, it should be a choice. Look at the lives that were ruined during Vietnam. In a country that cares about the rest of the world, concerns should be more about taking better care of it's citizens.

Yes, but while I agree that only Republicans should be drafted (because it would be a waste of money chasing libs for draft dodging and desertion) we shouldn't let that info out because libs would then not flee to Canada like they did in the 1970's.

There can be no such thing as the right to violate rights. A government that violates the rights of it's citizens is a criminal government. As republicans might fall into this category, it would be fitting for them to perish by their own sword, but the rational answer is NO, the draft is a violation of rights.

No, I have a better solution for getting more bodies in the army, gather up all the illegal male immigrants, up to 50 years of age and have them serve in the army for 8 years active duty. After honorable service, give them U.S. citizenship. The ones who cannot finish their 8 years active duty, deport them back to their individual country.

Yes, but the regular draft rules should apply; 18-30 yr old men only.

Your answer is a loaded question. You are biased and not legitimately asking a real question.

However, if you had asked a legitimate question, I would have responded like this: No, the draft shouldnt be brought back. We have enough people volunteering to join the army so we don't need to force anyone.

The only way to end this Iraq fiasco is to start the draft again. That way, Republicans and the rich will have to send their sons and daughters to war. This will result in a quicker end to the war, as they will be putting their own children at risk.

If you get drafted, just be disoriented or tell them you're an alcoholic or addict. (It helps to have drugs or alcohol in your system when you tell them this).

Good luck, my friend.
