They were never really Christian. I believe that most conservative Christians would agree that about 75% of those who claim to be Christian are really not.

The Bible has the answer to that:
1Jn 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us: for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
There really aren't as many Christians as statistics would lead you to believe...and we are getting less and less all the time.
Soon, you will see us "die out", or at least it will look that way for a time, but don't be decieved...the time will come when the church will stand back up on her feet....

Some confuse their church's (or denomination's) teachings to be wrong and can't find another choice currently available that teaching what they feel is truly Christian. They don't realize that you don't have to be part of a specific church or follow their rules to be a Christian.

Others just don't feel Jesus is really the savior.

You can be born and raised in a Christian family and still not be a Christian. You can go to church all of your life and be religious but that does not make you a Christian either.

To be a Christian, one must be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Peace be with you.

Anyone can call themselves a Christian but there was probably no true conversion from those whom have left the faith. Lucky for them God can and will forgive them if they return to Him.

Maybe because of all that **** that's going on with the priests raping kids. And also it could be that they never actually believed in that religion only went because their parents made them.

Matthew 13 may give you an answer.

Because they never knew God. Once you meet Jesus you will never be the same unless you go so far in sins of disobedience you can't tell right from wrong.
These people you mention are reprobates.
