Getting married in Tahoe mid-August. Should I call and reserve the tux NOW? I guess I'm unsure of how early a store will take an order. Thanks!

I have experience with this. Now is a good time to do it. Call the rental place and explain your situation. You can get the measurements in your hometown (often a suit shop will do it for free) and call/fax them. Earlier the better!

Fittings can usually be done up to a month or two before the wedding, but you need to call the store and set up the appointment for the fitting as soon as possible. But you shouldn't have to worry about that, it should be your fiance's job. All you need to do is let him know what color shirts/ties/vests etc you want to go with your color scheme. I told my fiance what colors i want and let him pick the style, and told him its his job to take care of tuxes and gifts for his attendants. We are getting married in August too, and he booked the tux fitting a couple months ago for June.

Go through a chain that has a store in your area as well as in Tahoe. They can do all the measurements for you in your home store and the style/measurements will be saved for you in the computer - they will be sent straight to the Tahoe store for you to pick up when you arrive! I would do it now. That way you aren't worrying/upset if you can't get the style you want for the wedding if you leave it too late.

Good luck!

Do it as soon as possible. If you can find a shop that has locations in your home town and at the destination. Then you don't have to worry about carrying it on a plane with you. A good one is Jims Formal Wear - http://www.jimsformalwear.com/

Do it as soon as possible. If nothing else, call and ask how soon you can reserve one. You don't wanna be stuck with a crap tux cause you waited too long!
Congrats and good luck!!!

I say a week or two before the event so you can just relax and chill until the day of the wedding,if you do it in the last minute you might not find one you like and what not
