I'm going to look around a Catholic school in view of applying to work there. I don't have any strong religious believes myself, so was wondering what do's and don't I should be aware of in the first instance?

I went to Catholic school for 5 years. They are really not different from any other school, except for Mass once a week . cliff notes :
Saints are very important and must be respetced, so if you'll be a teacher , you'll be expected to make sure kids respect them ( not touch them in church, not make fun of them , ect)

Silence during mass

Abortion is against believe, so make sure you ask what kind of sexual education ( if any) they provide , and what the rules are when a teen ask your advice, opinion , etc.

Crosses and other religious signs must be respected ( we used a cross as a baseball bat once, needless to say , we were all in huge trouble)

Prayer time ( if they hold it ) must be respected, so not talking or laughing. Find out about sanctions for disrespecting the religion in such ways, since you might be expected to police kids during this time( in my school we were written up for disrespecting religious time)

The rest is just like any other school.

Well many many Catholic schools do not even require anymore that the student be Catholic. Therefore the teachers are not required to be Catholic. However, that does not mean you aren't required to have good morals.

Well, in my locale, usually they insist you are catholic, with the paper work to back it up. Otherwise, not much different. You will have to attend some church services and take communion, but not that often.

When a Nun tells you to do something..you do twice what she asks.

It's ok to have your own opinions, but know that they are always right..so really what you say and think doesn't matter

Nuns frown on being "disobeyed"
They are nasty little things. I was happy to get out!!

Good luck...

Do: Believe everything you're told with no questions asked
Don't: Feel free to learn about the world.

Catholic school girls are hot, and usually wild in bed. Hi, my name is Bob and I'm the devil.
