Lie to them and say the baby was cute? I was just wondering what most people do in situations like that. My sisters baby is not cute at all but everyone seems to say it is and I know they are lying. I know the kid has a long future ahead of it and more then likely looks are gonna change but why lie, right? What would you do?

No parent wants to believe or be told their child is ugly. I tend to be a realist though as both my children were UGLY as babies. My son had a round face with black hair that literally stuck out at all angles, squinted eyes and chicken legs. My daughter had blond hair and just looked like a homely boy with big ears and chicken legs. At 28 and 30 yrs old not, they have grown into very handsome/beautiful adults.
You don't have to lie to say good things about their baby. You can comment on many things such as the color of their hair or eyes, or even just comment on how precious they are (as ALL babies are).
Take lots of pictures and you'll see how quickly they change.

Babies change so much as they turn into toddlers. All babies are cute in their own way. Everybody has some kind of beautiful feature. I would say no you shouldn't tell someone there her child is ugly, are you just trying to hurt her feelings. Who cares what you think all that matters is the mothers knows she is beautiful to her.
By the way things change, faces mature, your sisters kid could be beautiful by the time she gets older. It can go in reverse also. I had a friend that had a baby that just wasn't a cutie, but now she is in kindergarten and has turned out beautiful. Only time will tell.

I am a terrible liar...so it would be plain as day if I was fibbing about the cuteness of the baby. If you must comment, say the baby has a cute nose or cute ears or nice hair or something, I mean, it can't be COMPLETELY ugly, right? Don't say the baby is ugly though, it is really mean and the kid will probably grow out of it.

LOL! I have seen some ugly babies recently and just cause they are makes them cute! But..do not jinx the little tyke for life. Many people never grow older to resemble their baby picture..and it also works visa-versa...a gorgeous baby may not grow up to be a beautiful human being. What is the harm in a white lie for the sake of the parent's feelings, anyway? I would say they are cute..or they have Daddy's eyes or Mom's smile..but I would not go as far as saying they are beautiful!

I don't think I would tell her the baby is ugly. I have seen a few myself that look different but have grown out of it and turned into cute toddlers. If you can't say the baby is cute, try using words like handsome, smilie, giggly, cuddly, etc. Most parents think their baby is beautiful, and it would only hurt their feelings to say otherwise.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What you might think is ugly others may find charming and cute. To each his own. But even if you feel the child isn't cute by your standards, what would you gain by telling the parents that? Keep your opinions to yourself and learn that beauty isn't always found on the outside.

some people you can tell and some you can't. it really depends on your relationship with them. The fact that everyone else seems to think the baby is cute may tell you tat you just have bad taste. the baby may in fact be cute, but you can't see it. it also depends on the age of the baby, cause all newborns are ugly at first.

Of course you don't. You can't tell some one their baby is ugly. Even though most babies are pretty ugly until the are a month or two old. They look like little old men or little red faced aliens. Just being frank, my friends.

Just talk about how sweet the baby is. Talk about anything but dont say the baby is ugly LOL
It will hurt the parents feelings.
I have seen alot of ugly babies I normally just smile and say
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

To do anything but lie or say nothing would be mean and unnecessary. Why would you tell someone their baby is ugly? Especially your own sister?
