yah but later on floyd apologized to dana white and stated he was only kidding and he wanted nothing to do with sean shrek. i think he was just running his mouth and realized that he would probably get an offer to fight and didn't want to get spanked. so no boxers would stand no chance against a good mma fighter

It's not that simple. A boxer is 10x's a better puncher than most martial artists because boxers are taught to hit something from day one and they continue throughout their career. In martial arts, you are taught technique and form first well before you start hitting for strength and contact. If you put a boxer to fight a martial artist in the first few years of their careers, the boxer would win most of the time. After 10 years of training, I give it to the martial artist because they are taught to use a plethora of more skills. Even Chuck Lidell admitted that a boxer's strongest chance is to knock out his opponent in the first few seconds of round 1. If he cannot do so, it's over. Boxer's are not trained to fight of the floor. However, train an experienced boxer in mixed martial arts, you'll have a undefeated champ.

I think it really depends (like in all fights) on the match-up. A guy like Chuck Liddell, who in 2 of his 3 losses was clearly beaten in his stand-up, may have some trouble with some boxers. Keep in mind that what makes Chuck lethal in the UFC is that he possesses probably the best take-down defense in the business. This neutralizes his opponents ability to shoot and opens them up to his cement-like fast hands. A talented brawler who is used to getting slugged in the face (like a larger version of Arturo Gatti) would probably have a good chance against Chuck as they are more talented in protecting against strikes, and are used to working on their chins (unlike most MMA fighters).

Conversely, a guy like Randy Couture would probably give any boxer a beating. Boxers are not world class wrestlers and would not stand a very good chance in stopping Randy when he shoots, takes them down to the ground and bends them into a pretzel. The only chance a boxer would have is to catch him with a devastating punch coming in and that would be unlikely.

I would agree with Floyd in that most boxers are better conditioned athletes than MMA fighters, but to say they could win in a fundamentally different discipline is probably misguided. I'm sure that a guy like floyd could beat a guy like Matt Serra but I doubt Mayorga or Vargas could do anything with someone like Anderson Silva. Like I said before, it all comes down to matchups...

Floyd Mayweather is a talented boxer, but I have to wonder where he has gotten any experience blocking knees and elbows, or dealing with submission holds. I would definitely like to see him put his money where his mouth is.

That's crazy. The UFC is not boxing. It is an endurance driven brawl. Take most boxers out of the ring and put them in a bar fight and they will be crying for their agents.

If you remember rightly Floyd also said he was going to take the fight to Oscar in their superfight the other night, but instead he ran away like a p**sy all night as he always does. There is absolutely no point listening to anything that Mayweather says as it is virtually always bulls**t.
